Moments of emptiness

Empty; that is the subject for the @Qurator Photo Quest for this week. I like emptiness. As artists say; less is often more. Making photographs with so-called negative space can be quite interesting.
For this week's contest, I dived in my archive again to look up some photos that fit the subject EMPTY. And here they are.

I'm living quite close to the beach and I like to go there often. During summer days like we have now it's always crowded. The beaches are full of people. During colder and more windy days in autumn and winter there are way fewer people, but there are always people walking their dog, fishermen or (kite)surfers.
But when you walk away from the boulevard you sometimes can experience emptiness. Then it's only you, the sea, sand and wind (and some seagulls 😀).
Walking on an empty beach also helps to empty your head.

This is my entry for the @Qurator photo quest

This second photo was taken many years ago during a safari in Etosha National Park in Namibia.
In the middle of the park there is a giant salt pan that stretches out as far as you can see.
I spotted two ostriches that were walking in the emptiness, which looked cool, so I took the shot.

The final photo was taken during a short trip to the Belgian Ardennes. I enjoy hiking, especially through forests and nature reserves. After walking through the woods, I suddenly arrived at this wide open plain. The empty landscape had something peaceful.

Thank you for reading my blog. Do you enjoy visiting quiet and empty places in nature to clear your head. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Nice to be near a beach. Sea breeze is soothing. Beautiful photos. It fits in the subject pretty well.

You are blessed as you are living quite close to the beach and can enjoy the silence and power of the sea at the same time. The sea has a therapeutic effect and let's the mind fly.

It surely can be therapeutic to go for a walk on the beach (or elsewhere in nature).
