Macro's from my backyard

It has been a while ago since I took some macro photos. It has been winter here in the Netherlands which means cold, a lot of rain, not much sun (and light) and almost no insects and flowers (which are my favourite macro subjects.

But spring has arrived; the trees start blossoming and flowers and thus insects return.
Time to grab my macro gear and go for a hunt in the backyard.

The first 'victim' I found was this wasp that my Obsidentify app identified as the "Abia aenea/lonicerae".
It had a beautiful coloured body.

It walked a bit around on the leaves giving me the time to take some shots.
It was quite hard getting all the settings of my camera correctly again for macro photography.
Not all shots I took were as sharp as I wanted them to be. But I just have to practice some more.

I also spotted a ladybug which seem to have a disease or something. It's shield was partially brown as if it were rotten.

The apple tree is blossoming now. We've planted it last year, so we're hoping it will give us some apples. Let the insects do their job!

It had been raining a bit today. The waterdrops on the plants are always nice to photograph I think.

Also the petals of the flowers are a nice subject to zoom into.

DRUPPEL1.jpg

This waterdrop got caught by the petals of the blossom of the plum tree we have in our backyard.

It's so cool to see the adhesion of the waterdrops. They form so perfectly round shape and keep hanging on to the edge of the leaf.

Another one of my favourite plants is the Rhododendron. We have one with nice white flowers with a bit of a pink cast. I love the long and curly petals it has.

The inside has this cool yellow panther like print.

So, this was my first round with my camera in the backyard this year. What do you think of it?

Photographing is my passion. Although I like photography in general, nature photography is one of my favourite subjects. I often go out with my camera for a hike to capture the beauty of nature.
I would love to read what you think of my photos in the comments.
