Hivegarden Update March 31st 2023

avatar

Two weeks ago I created my first #gardenjoural post of 2023.
I had planted some seeds for peppers and cherry tomatoes on the 12th of March.
The cherry tomatoes have sprouted already. There are quite some little plants showing up.
The peppers aren't showing up yet, but it only has been two weeks, so I might have to give it some more time.

One week ago planted some zucchini and cucumber seeds in another tray. The zucchini has sprouted in just a few days and grows really quickly. And in the bottom left of the following photo you can see the first cucumber emerging peeking.
I have to check when I have to move them to give them some more space.

Outside the carrots and cauliflower that I had planted are still there. They didn't grow a lot during the winter, but I think they are growing again now. I hope they will continue growing and I will have some carrots and cauliflower in a while.

The beetroot in the back is covered with weed and didn't do very well. I think I will remove them soon and place come (broad) beans against the fence. I do have to buy some seeds for that.

In another part of the garden I have planted radish. I read that radish can be planted early in the year so I bought a seed lint and planted them about two weeks ago. And to my surprise I saw some little plants already showing up today. Let's see how they will continue doing.

As every year the raspberry is multiplying itself. I see several tiny raspberry plants showing up in the border I created. Our raspberry bush is a guarantee for loads of raspberries every year.
They are so nice and sweet. We always pick some in the morning for breakfast (to put in the soja yoghurt with cereal).

I'm also quite excited about the apple tree. We've planted that one last year, so I wonder if it will give us some apples this year already.

Now let's hope for some more sun because is has been quite rainy and cold the last few days.

Hope you get a great harvest, at the end of it all! We haven't quite started yet, except a few seedlings in planterboxes in the garage; tomorrow and Sunday is forecast for a light freeze, and that will hopefully be the final true cold of the spring.

It has been just above freezing point here. I hope the radishes will survive when it will freeze a bit. I'll keep the seedlings indoor for now.
Thanks for visiting.
