Beer review: Ne Flierefluiter

avatar

It has been a while since I made my latest beer review blog. Both the presentation of @detlev during Hivefest and a visit to my favourite beer shop inspired me to create another review blog.

I visited the beer shop because I was going to a birthday of a friend of mine who is also a beer-lover. I hadn't visited the shop in a while and they had quite a lot of new beers since my last visit. They sell over 1200 different beers from all over the world.

One of the beers I found was "Ne Flierefluiter", a Belgian Triple. Since I didn't have had this beer myself I bought one for myself too. This is the beer I'm reviewing today.

Flierefluiter

A "Flierefluiter" isn't a very positive word. It can be translated as sluggard.
According to vocabulary.com the definition os a sluggard is the following:
If you know that sluggish means slow-moving, then you have a clue to the meaning of sluggard. A sluggard is a lazy, sleepy, slow-moving person. A sluggard is likely to oversleep and even snooze through class or work.

Anyhow a funny name and also a funny picture as well.

The Review

Ne Flierefluiter is a Belgian Triple with 8.5% alcohol. When I poured the beer in a glass the first thing I noticed was the big amount of foam. This usually indicates a lot of
carbonation which I don't really like. You can see in the photo that half of my glass is filled with foam.

The beer has a gold/orange colour and a nice layer of foam with a nice white large bubbles.

The carbon wasn't as bad as I thought it was.
The beer smells good; a bit fruity and the taste is a bit sour, but not too much.
Although it isn't the beste beer I've had it certainly is a good and tasty beer.
I would give the beer a 3.5 out of 5 rating.

Decent review. You should do these more regular. 👍

Thanks. I've done a few in the past, but I might do some more on the following Saturdays.

Would be a good weekly thing to do. You should do a few ciders. That’s the local usual around my area.

I will if I can find the time.
I'm not that into ciders. I'm more into beers.

This one is on my list for quite some time already. Your score of 3,5 out of 5 is a general note, price-quality, or among (Belgian) Triples? !BEER

True, ratings are difficult. Certainly with food and drinks because tastes differs.
I've had recommendations from friends which tasted terrible in my opinion.

But my 3.5 tells it was an above average beer and I compare it with all other beers I've had, so also other styles.

Judging by your username you seem Dutch. The shop is in Leiden, but you can also order online:

Thanks for the explanation. I'm Belgian, so I would be at the source for good beers, but I'm living in Mallorca. Anyway not a bad place for beer too. I can find a lot of beers I like here, also Belgian ones, just in the supermarket. And when I go by car to Belgium, I take advantage to bring a couple of beers over here...
Thanks for the link. I'll take a look if they'd ship till here !PIZZA

You're welcome.
Mallorca; not bad at all 😀
There must be a beer shop in Belgium that sells it too. It is a Belgian beer after all.

I wouldn't have too much time to look after beer shops when i'm in Belgium. Trying to make program that suits everyone and of course trying to spend some time with my family. Apart from that in Belgium it takes ages to drive from point a to point b. I've notived again last summer. No fun at all. I do understand now why such a lot of people !love online shopping. I don't like it at all, but I'd start to like it when I'd be living in Belgium again..... !CTP

And about Mallorca, yeah, i've been living in quite some places, because of the work i was doing (tourism) and when my daughter was about to be born, I started to think where to settle. And there's only one place that meets the most important criteria, Mallorca. I cannot say all creteria, because to live in Southern Europe for a longer time asks for a kind of mindset I don't have... I can't really adapt to the "mañana" and "half good" lifestyle.... !BBH !PIZZA

I'm not a big aficionado of beer, one every year or two is enough for me... LOL! But, the color of this is quite lovely! 😃
