Resetting the calendar

I sat by the window with a cup of cacao in my hand staring at the trees in the park receiving the gift of the sky. The sound of the rain clattering on the pavement, sounded like music into my ears. The last weeks were too hot, I wasn't ready for such high temperatures, not just yet. And all that south winds bringing dust from the Sahara dessert, have messed the spring blissfulness and joy for good.

This rain was much wanted. For nature, for people, for our dirty cities. Washing away all the dust of the past weeks and cooling the stuffy atmosphere. Bringing some freshness and resetting the calendar to actual spring!

The whole day was moody until the first raindrops finally started to fall. Not that I had much time for going out anyway but I didn't take any photographs. Those pictures are from another cloudy day of April, in another small coastal town, in another place (one of the many) that I used to call home for a while.

But a port is port, the sea and the sky are pretty much the same and an overcast weather has the same impact on people's mood, no matter were they are!

Of course a peaceful scenery helps and I can't complain on that matter. I seem to be moving from one scenic place to the other avoiding the ugliness of the cities for quite some time. I used to love city life and I am sure that millions of people still do, but not anymore. Maybe I am getting older or wiser or both, who knows. Or none of the above. Maybe I am just tired of people and I don't want too many of them, being too close to me.

On the other hand does it really matter to figure out the answer?

I took those pictures on 19/4/2021 at the port of Sitia in Crete, Greece. I was living close to that lovely little town, at the time and I visited it often.
I wrote this post three years ago, with monochrome pictures taken on that same walk but there were a few more keepers that I wanted to share too!

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 50mm f1.8 lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic .

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Hahaha you're so wise that you went to dig up beautiful photos from your archive. You could have just stayed there looking out the window with that weird mood...but hey, it was therapeutic 😅.

Yes, I like to go back, once in a while and look through the eyes of the younger me!

Not to mention that my memory is terrible and my archive works as a calendar too :)
