On the edge of the cliff

IMG_5300-Pano.jpg

Yeah, this is it, that's the picture that I wanted to take for years!

The girl was yelling in a frantic way. She was genuinely thrilled and deliriously happy! So happy that she made me feel uncomfortable.

I was on the edge of a 200 meters cliff, my open camera bag, with all my prime lenses, was sloppily laid on a rock and an uncontrollable teenager was hopping behind my back!

Fortunately everything turned out well :)

I finished the shots I needed for a panorama picture, I closed my bag and I offered my spot to the overexcited girl.

After all, this is indeed the best spot to take a picture of Nafplio and everyone deserves a minute or two on the edge of the cliff :)

Of course I didn't limit myself to the one panorama that I wanted to shoot anyway, far from it!

Up there I feel like flying, like I am an eagle looking for my prey at the old fortress, at the beach, at the town's streets.

I see them all, I rule them all!

If you allow me to paraphrase a favourite movie :)

It is so peculiar to look all the places that I know so well, from above. Everything is familiar but at the same time different. Maybe I should make up my mind to start using that drone that I bought a few years ago. I don't know why I have been so procrastinating about using it but looking the town from up here opened my appetite for some more aerial adventures :)

This was the third and last part of my walk on the Palamidi fortress in the town of Nafplio, in Greece. If you have missed the previous two parts and you want to get the whole picture, you can follow the links below:

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with almost all my lenses!
EF 16-35mm f4L, EF 24-105mm f4L and my favourite oldie from the 80s, a black EF 80-200 f2.8L
I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic .

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Man!! This image is cool. The description of all that was happening at the point of taking it had so much emotion, I literally felt I was on the edge too.

Wow, the excited girl at the viewpoint perfectly illustrates the transformative power of a moment or a place. I don't know how to explain it, but I love seeing people happy in the face of nature's beauty.

(even though I understand that it might make you uncomfortable while you're taking the photo, haha)

It's so important to share these special places. It's beautiful, well done!

great pics. I can imagine so many beautiful stories lying hidden in a town as pictured in your photos. That fort on hill just adds depth to any tale the town might have. Very beautiful place, shooting location, and photos!
