Happy November to everybody from the gloomy and occasionally drizzling Nafplio!

Yesterday was candle-burning test day in our workshop, and by the evening I had many shapes of melted wax and little flames to photograph.

How could I resist that?

There’s something so fascinating about watching a candle burn, the way the wax folds and melts, forming shapes you could never predict. The quiet movement of the flame, alive but calm.

If I may say so, it’s a noble kind of transformation.

The light of beeswax is unlike any other. It’s warm, soft, and subconsciously familiar, the kind of light that has kept humankind company for millennia. Maybe that’s why it feels so friendly, so comforting.

It fills the space without overwhelming it, flickering just enough to remind you that it’s alive. When you sit near it for a while, everything else seems to quiet down.

It’s not just light, it’s presence.

Right now, a large pot behind me is slowly melting the wax for the next batch of candles. I like this slow rhythm, the patience it asks for. It takes hours to create them, and even more hours to watch them burn.

But time spent with beeswax never feels wasted :)
