Half of the thrill

The first trip of 2025, about nine months ago, gave me the rare opportunity to be close to snow covered mountains and a lake hidden in thick fog. Now, as we are about to enter the last month of autumn, I find myself wondering where the new winter will lead me. It may be a bit hasty on my part, since the weather is still quite summerish, but I felt an urge to see some winter landscapes and this was the handiest folder on my computer :)

The summer has been, more or less, without travels or even short trips. And even though I’ve spent it in a beautiful place, one that thousands of people pay good money to visit every year, I still feel the call of the road. It doesn’t have to be somewhere prettier (although I wouldn’t mind that), but a change of scenery would be more than welcome.
And the more I look at those pictures, the more vividly I can hear the road calling :)

I often think of our distant ancestors, the ones who lived before Homo sapiens invented agriculture and all the aftermath we now call civilization. The nomads who spent their lives following the weather and the sources of food, never bothering to call a place home. I wonder if the thrill of travelling is a dormant part of our nomadic DNA, quietly pushing us toward our true nature.
Or maybe it’s just that travelling is fun. :)

For now, I’m sitting at my desk with a couple of candles burning quietly by my side, trying not to make too many plans. They rarely turn out as they’re supposed to and even when they do, half of the thrill is already gone :)

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
Below you can find the links to the posts I wrote in January, with many colourful pictures from that trip. And I still have a few dozens unedited ones :)
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Hello @fotostef and thank you very much for your #monomad participation.
Please keep in mind that in order to be considered valid, and as stated in our rules, every entry needs to be posted in the black and white community.
Unfortunately we won't be able to consider this one for that reason.
Yes, I know. I realised it after I had pressed the "publish" button and it was too late to correct it.
Next time then :)
No worries.
It happens.
The black and white gives the photos an incredible touch of mystery. Thanks for sharing.
I am glad you liked them!

Black and white has indeed its charm :)
The nomadic spirit is there, awakening in some and not in others, and of course traveling is fun, and it's even better when it's adventurous!
I am sure you are from the ones that seek adventure and wandering :)
I'm almost always thirsty for adventure! 😄
