Eye witness

IMG_0126.jpg

I could have done a whole post about the cats of Monemvasia. They seem to be the absolute rulers of the town but, on the other hand, they tend to do that in every town, don't they?

Can you spot the cat of the first picture in the right picture below? They are always sitting on the most bizarre places, watching everything that goes on and everyone that passes by.

Eye witnesses, constantly alert!

It was just before Easter but the weather seemed winterish that day. Cold and windy. But it just added more charm to the, already captivating, old town. Anyway we didn't mind a bit cold weather. We knew that it would probably be the last of the season and there are a lot of warm and extra hot months ahead.

As we were walking with the company of our canine friend, the cats were more cautious than usual. Our dog, on the other hand, grew up in a house with many cats and he has learned to respect them.

Them, as well as their claws :)

But the cats don't know that!

The objective of this walk was to explore the lower part of the town and find the small opening of the walls, to the sea.

And of course we did :)

What an amazing spot. Exiting the fortification of the town and finding yourself by the sea! And even if we didn't have the opportunity to swim in the sea, we saw it in a way much more appropriate to a medieval castle and its history during the Dark Ages!

This is the forth part of our visit to the castle-town of Monemvasia at 8-10/4/2025.

The first post was:

As I wish

the second

A ship like no other

and the third

Big mouth

And if you are not tired of it, there would be more :)

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Commenting, upvoting and rebloging are highly appreciated!

Those cats in Monemvasia look so cool sitting in such strange places as if they owned the place, I like the game where you have to find the same cat in different photos it makes me pay more attention to the details. The light is really good even though you say it was cold and windy which was probably a pain while you were taking the photos, finding that hole in the wall that looks straight out to sea must have been incredible like walking through a portal or something going from narrow old streets to suddenly seeing the ocean.

Your photos are gorgeous. I hope to visit next summer. You sure make me want to go! For the colors and the cats. I wish I could bring my dog...

Thanks a lot!

I hope you'll manage to visit it yourself. And if you do, let me know if I can help with anything.

The dog is the main reason that we travel mostly by car the last years!

Cheers

I travel by car in the US so that I can take my dog with me. And my stuff. I travel with a lot of my stuff. A trip to Greece would free me from stuff. Sounds good!

That landscape is incredible, it gives me a feeling of strange nostalgia to see those worn stone alleys, everything is very beautiful, and especially the tortoiseshell kitty on the cover! 🐈 💛
