End of an era
The stone-built facade, the faded letters on it and the overgrown, yet untended lemon tree, prepared me for the world I was about to enter to. A world once flourishing but now, relentlessly decaying. I knew in advance that it is now an empty building but words cannot always describe reality in an accurate way. Maybe not even pictures can. But I tried anyway. Capturing that is, the decadence, the dereliction, the very essence of the end of an era.
I usually seek for beauty to photograph but doesn't those pictures carry an amount of beauty too, apart from the unpleasant reality that they illustrate?
I don't know how you feel about places like that but myself, once I started shooting, I just couldn't stop myself. So many images, so many objects, such an improbable, almost surreal mess, inviting me into a dance of depiction that didn't seem to end.

The red yarns, laying on the floor, were the most vivid remains of the old textile industry, that used to occupy this space. Whilst they are covered with dust, as everything else in there, they still hold some glow. Maybe even more than before, now that they are left into the ruins of the past, almost the only colourful thing in a grey surrounding!

This is the second post I am writing about this visit. I edited so many pictures that felt too much for a single post. In the comments of the first post, that you can read here, I was informed about the 'Urban Exploration' community which, apparently, is a nice fit for a subject like this one. So here I am, with my first post in this community, hopefully a proper one :)

Wow, these photographs are absolutely stunning. I really love them, and the grainy look with the light falling from the windows, and then the things on the floor, really sets the mood. I really understand the need and desire to take as much photographs as possible. My PC is full of that, unshared moments which perfectly emerged in my viewfinder, but hidden from sight now stored away in one of the many digital "graveyard" on my PC. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photographs.

Beautiful photographs, for some reason they make me feel sad and nostalgic even though I don't know the history of that place or the people who used to be there.
Abandonment does that but at least, you enjoyed the pictures!
