Different aspirations

Untitled-1.jpg

I parked the car to the usual spot. It is one of those meaningless habits that I tend to develop.

Do you know what I mean?

Like camping under a tree for three times and then call it MY tree!

Or looking at a sunset from a specific bench in a park and then call it MY bench!

Anyway, I parked the car to MY spot and all three of us got out. We may came together but we all had different aspirations for this walk.

Marcos, our canine companion, was hoping to run freely off the leash, as he always does when we come to this place.

@traisto was hoping to forage oregano, although we knew that we were a bit late for that.

And I was ready to take a few nice photographs of our day :)

The location is a small hill close to the town of Nafplio. It has a lovely view as it overlooks the orange groves and the scattered country houses as well as a small settlement outside the town limits.

The elevated point of view is always an advantage for landscape photography and the brilliant day was helping even more. It looked like my objective for the day would be fulfilled!

This isn't the most lush scenery but it has a lot of wild vegetation and it is more or less intact from human activities. The cultivated land is in a lower altitude and apart from a bee keeper with his bees and a shepherd with his sheep that are occasionally pass by, it is very quiet.

And very close to our home :)

We were right for one thing though. Oregano had already bloomed which (in our book) is late to be harvested. Some other people think differently and they pick it even after blooming. But we try to be very consistent with the standards that we have set and if it's bloomed we prefer to leave it for the bees!

But they had just bloomed, which means that there were a few sticks just as we like them. Not many but enough for what we wanted and for the objective of @traisto to be fulfilled too :)

On the pictures below there is a stick that we foraged on the left and one that we didn't on the right. Although for photography the bloomed ones are more impressive, the aroma and the properties of the plant before it blooms are much stronger.

As for Marcos, he run so much that after a while he was just seeking for the shadow of the trees trying to cool off and catch his breath :)

I would say that it was a walk 100% successful for all three of us!

Unless of course you didn't like my pictures :)
