Big mouth

I talked a lot, in my previous post, about the amazing view I was about to show to you and now it is time to deliver on my promise.

And what better way to do that, than a panoramic image, made out of nine vertical shots! I knew I had them and I only had to stitch them together. Piece of cake, when you have the latest version of lightroom. Right?

Right. But I hadn't considered that I took those nine shots a bit hasty, handheld and at very high iso. Which all contributed to low quality material, to work with. If it haven't been for my big mouth, I would probably skip them. But I wanted to show that view I was talking about and after a couple of back and forth between lightroom and photoshop, I think I did it. Maybe not for a large print but ok for a screen.

Let me remind you that this is the upper town of Monemvasia, probably the most beautiful and well preserver castle town in Greece.

It was a gloomy, spring day. The colours of the flowers were glowing even more under the heavy sky and the dark rocks of the castle walls. The whole place looked like a fortified meadow, there were almost no other visitors and our dog was happily exploring every inch of it when we let him off-leash.

Before I even realise that the day was coming to an end, I saw the first lights, on the buildings below. The dusk was coming rapidly and we had to get to the lower level of the town before it gets too dark. Not that I stopped taking pictures. Even though the camera I had with me, doesn't perform too well in low light conditions, I kept pushing it to its limits and took advantage of the magical twilight.

The day was coming to a perfect end. After dinner and a good night's sleep we would return to the streets of Monemvasia for more walks and more pictures, of course! I hope you are enjoying this amazing place and you are not fed up with me keep posting about it :)

I wrote the first post of that visit last Sunday with the title As I wish and the second at Wednesday, titled A ship like no other.

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Wow, what an incredible set of photos you took. You really captured the beauty and atmosphere of Monemvasia. It feels like I’m right there walking those ancient streets. Even with the challenges you mentioned, high ISO, handheld shots, the final panorama, and all the pictures look amazing on screen. I especially love how you described the flowers glowing under the gloomy sky.
