A ship like no other

One thing that I wasn't expecting to see in the castle, was flowers.
Wild flowers growing on every bit of available soil, on stone walls, on every probable and improbable spot!
I should have known better. I live so close to a castle (not this one, another one) and I have first-hand experiences of the persistent flora that pops up everywhere in the spring.
Nevertheless I was surprised.
Pleasantly surprised of course!
I smelled a few, took some pictures and continued my walk. Anyway the main subject of my photographs was not the flowers but the astonishing castle town of Monemvasia.

Despite the gloomy weather, it was a bliss to walk among those medieval walls. Looking at the sea gave me the feeling that I am on a stone built ship.
A ship steady, magnificent and timeless.
If you have a tendency to seasickness, like I do, you'll love this place. An ideal spot to breath all the sea breeze you desire, gazing the waters from the comfort of the immovable stone walls!
What else can I ask for :)

Of course I asked for more! Humans are greedy creatures and I am no exception. I loved everything around me but if I was climbing higher I could have an even better view, wouldn't I?
So when I saw the sign on the picture below, indicating the direction of the upper town I didn't hesitate a bit. Going uphill is not tiring at all if you are rewarded with an amazing view at the end of it.
And I already knew what view I was about to see!

As I was approaching the higher fortification, more flowers kept attracting my attention and gave me a few excuses to catch my breath, as I was photographing them. But it wasn't a long ascent altogether.
In a few minutes I saw the arch that delimit the upper town and started walking faster, anticipating the greatness of the view!
But that's for the next post.
Hopefully you'll forgive me for the teaser but as I said in my previous post, I have too many pictures that I like, from this visit and I want to share as many as possible!

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic
