Recovery Day 28 - Missing Zwift... my training diary entry from July 4 2026

(Just like yesterday, here is another photo of the clouds. I took it while lying in the hammock on my balcony two days ago, listening to some music. I don't know if it's just my brain constantly spotting shapes in the clouds, but a great white shark is clearly outlined here, isn't it?)

Hi Actifitters,

unfortunately, apart from a short walk, not much happened yesterday. I had actually planned to go swimming at the lake with my wife, but the trip there would have been too far. I’m currently feeling my tennis injury a bit again and want it to finally heal completely. I really miss my regular sports routine from before the muscle strain and want to get back to it as soon as possible—finally tackling Zwift challenges again, setting new personal records for elevation gain, or simply racing against others. In short, I just want to get back to training on the bike.


Mission 80 (Day 6 = 89.6 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0)

Since I am currently unable to exercise as much as I would like, the only way for me to make progress with "Mission 80" is to be disciplined about my diet. However, that was only possible to a limited extent yesterday evening, as I had been invited to a barbecue at my mother's place. I simply find it incredibly hard to maintain discipline when I'm in a social setting. When the cheerful group around me clinks glasses for a toast, I can't help but join in, and if the food tastes good, I can't stop after just one plate. That is likely the reason why I weighed more today than yesterday.


I had actually planned to focus on my upper body again today. However, since I unfortunately couldn't hold back at the barbecue yesterday and ate and drank far too much, I had a pretty short and restless night. It feels wrong, but for that reason, I’m going to skip today’s workout. I just don't feel like a workout would be effective today. I'd rather rest, go for a short walk, and tackle it tomorrow feeling fit.

🤔 Mmmmm, I understand how you feel, and I hope you’ll soon be back on your bike and into your normal training… one does feel that life pauses a little, doesn’t one? Don’t worry about having eaten too much — it was a lovely family moment, and those are meant to be enjoyed to the fullest!
