Recovery Day 20 - Setback... my training diary entry from June 26 2026

(I helped this little fellow across the road the other day. I didn't want him to get run over. Apparently, it's a small stag beetle.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday, contrary to my training plan and without taking a rest day, I went straight back to doing close-grip push-ups. Unfortunately, I didn't see any improvement this time; in fact, across five sets, I managed three fewer repetitions than the day before yesterday.

The next goal according to the training plan (47+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets

My previous attempt (40):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets

Yesterdays attempt (37):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets

Of course, I’m not letting that discourage me. I really should have given my body more time to adapt after the previous workout. Besides, there was a reason why I trained again yesterday...


...Today is no time for push-ups since we’re heading out into the local countryside again. It’s not entirely clear where we’re going yet, but we’ll certainly be covering a few kilometers on foot. We’ll let the weather dictate our route; if it gets too hot out in the open fields, we’ll have to stick to wooded areas. The journey is the destination. Since temperatures in Germany are expected to reach up to 42 degrees, we’re packing our swim trunks, of course.
