My longest smart trainer ride I made so far... my training diary entry from January 18 2026

(This photo was taken in the car wash in the evening after our hike, just as the drying process was starting.)
Hi Actifitters,
when I woke up yesterday I was not sure if I will be able to find the motivation for sports. On one side I had a light muscle soreness in my thighs and a relaxed sunday on the sofa is also a nice thing. On the other hand is it even nicer to do some sports an chill on the sofa after.
So I checked which workout my Garmin Enduro 3 had planned for me. To my horror, it was the longest bike ride I had ever completed on the smart trainer.
I wasn't prepared for that, but gradually tried to get used to the idea, until I soon found myself back in the saddle. At my side were two date and peanut bars, a banana, a Red Bull, and two liters of water, which should help me through the two hours and 53 minutes.
Since I wasn't yet sure how to pace myself, I pedaled relatively relaxed at about 32 km/h for the first hour. Gradually, however, I got faster and faster without even trying. My muscles were probably just warmed up, and the energy came naturally. I hadn't actually intended to add any sidequest to this training session, but when I saw how fast I was suddenly going, I started doing the math. The result: Let's go... we make the 100 km.
So I picked up the pace a little, but tried not to slip too far into Zone 3. I managed that quite well. About half an hour before the end, it became really tough, and I had to fight for quite a while to avoid mentally cracking. When I reached about 98 km, the battle against myself was won, and it felt like I could keep going like that for quite some time.
Shortly after, it was over, and I was proud and happy that I had made the effort to attend that training session. Here are some more numbers:
Duration - 2:53:02
Distance - 102.23 km
Average speed - 35.4 km/h
Maximum speed - 42.1 km/h
Average power output - 119 watts
Maximum power output - 124 watts
Average heart rate - 117 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 138 bpm
Average cadence - 95
Maximum cadence - 114
Today I'm going to take it really easy. I'll do a few push-ups and my usual steps, but that'll be it.

Riding 100+ km in about 3 hours is really impressive, especially from near Zone 2. It's great to win the mental fight and pull through to the end. Well done!
Thanks :)
That is the beauty of when you do something you have passion for consistently. The stamina and endurance is already inbuilt, like you said it will just come naturally, once you decide to give a go.Nice one @forever-crypto
Thanks :)

😀 Thanks to your post I’ve considered taking similar things with me to eat on my rides. Although I can’t keep up that pace of pedalling in the city, full of cars and streets riddled with potholes.
Sure pedaling on a smart trainer is much different from riding outside. Please watch out for the potholes. ;)
😅 yes, thanks.
