Hi Actifitters,

I hope you all had a good start to the new year and, ideally, have already been active.

After having a real slump on New Year's Day and doing nothing except my steps, I got back on my bike yesterday. My Garmin Enduro 3 recommended a session with a length of one hour and eight minutes at 125 watts to improve my base... and so I did.

I completed this training session with an average speed of 31.5 km/h and thus covered a distance of 35.72 km within the prescribed time.

Although I had once again two far too short nights and it wasn't easy to motivate myself, I felt surprisingly strong when I finally sat on the bike.

Since I have been experiencing increasing pain in both elbows during recent strength training sessions, and my left shoulder is also not okay, I have made a decision.
I'll take a break from strength training for a few days or even weeks until I'm pain-free again, and then start again with lighter weights. It simply doesn't make sense to train through the pain now, only to end up with serious problems and be sidelined for a long time later.

Since one of my first goals for 2026 is a 50-kilometer walk, I will now focus on that and try to walk kilometers whenever possible. I also need to work on my weak point, my shin muscles, to prepare them for such a long exertion.

Today I have a longer indoor cycling session planned. My watch recommends a session of one hour and 55 minutes at 125 watts.

Afterwards, my wife and I are going shopping, and a friend is coming in the evening. We'll have something delicious to eat together and probably open a beer or two or.... We will see.
