Saturday Walk in Colonia Tovar [EN] // [ES]

This weekend was my brother @fran-b and his wife's 7th anniversary. , and for that reason my brother wanted to take my sister-in-law to visit La Colonia Tovar located in the north of Aragua state about 77 kilometers away from my little town, and about 2 hours away, due to its steep roads and with a large number of dangerous curves, my brother did not count that my sister-in-law would invite me and my little Mathias, so on Saturday at about 6:00 am we were leaving home with the course set to La Colonia Tovar. This little town with roots well rooted in German culture and where you can still find people speaking German, and that definitely has remained as in a bubble of time where its architecture and climate is still intact since its creation in 1843, definitely a jewel that invites us to want to stay to see its sunsets and enjoy its cold and cloudy sunrises.
We arrived just at 8:00 am and many commercial establishments had not yet opened their doors, the fruit, candy, vegetable and plant vendors were still organizing the stalls that every Saturday they set up to receive tourists, since this small town is very busy on weekends, as it is the perfect place for recreation for those of us who work all week.
As we arrived early we were able to find a place to park the car without having to pay in the local parking lots that are also somewhat removed from the central area, the first thing we did was to go to the church, it was still closed but by arriving early we could take some good pictures without interruption from other tourists, we could also better appreciate the beauty of the construction of the church, at this time the cold was really strong, we live in a much warmer area and the temperature contrast can be noticed much faster.
I could not fail to make a good purchase of vegetables and fruits, as a good lover of cooking, finding such fresh fruits and vegetables is definitely something I can not resist, plus there was a variety that in my town can not be found easily and much less with such freshness, the images do not do honor to the beautiful and vivid colors in the fruits that we can see in these kiosks that we found throughout the central part of the town.
At the entrance of the village we found different stands with 4x4 vehicles that make tours throughout the village and tourist areas that are away from the central town, the cheapest tours are in the order of $ 10, are really good for those who do not know the area, however, as it is not the first time we go to La Colonia Tovar, we decided to pass the tours and make a new route ourselves taking advantage of the van is small and allows us to enter by those small roads. This being so, we made our way to the garden of Hydrangeas, which, although they are all over the town where they grow wild, there are some hills where the grass is replaced by these flowers and it is inevitable to take hundreds of pictures in it, those who love flowers and photography easily delight us in such a place.
You must make a mandatory stop at the dairy factory based on goat's milk, where we find goat cheeses ranging from fresh to matured, through the smoked, which is one of my favorites, you can also find goat milk sweets, yogurt and even quesillo, all really delicious. Here we also find the popular Molino Rojo Restaurant where besides getting delicious food you can take some beautiful pictures in the old water mill that alludes to the name of the place.
Leaving the town towards the artisan ceramics exhibition, I couldn't help but update the photo of the house of my dreams, this facade belongs to one of the cabins of the inn Cabins Hessen, also one of my favorites, because the attention and the rooms of the place are beautiful and very cozy.
On the way to the exhibition of artisan ceramics, we couldn't resist stopping at an exhibition of modern art made with recyclable material by Creacciones Janni, a real show for the little ones in the house, and for art lovers as such.
Our last stop was at Arte Cerámica Tovar, a ceramic workshop and exhibition, which you should definitely not miss if you go to this little town, it is somewhat removed from the town at the exit to El Junquito, La Guaira State, and where we can see how they make their pieces themselves and the endless pieces of utilitarian and ornamental ceramics, which certainly will leave us in love, I can say that the prices are not the most accessible but their quality is really the best.
We could not leave without going to a deli, the locals have a great variety of sausages and the sausages are the best, so I could not get home without something from there, so we went to Embutidos GÜNTER, where they have the Guinness record for the largest sausage in the world, and where you can also enjoy a good hot dog prepared on the grill and buy the varieties of sausages that they make there, I am honest, at this time I was not thinking about taking pictures, but to eat hahaha, so I only took a couple of pictures.
This is just a small sample of what was our day in La Colonia Tovar, certainly a different day and that, I totally recommend to distract our minds from the daily routine, if you are near this little town with German culture you can not miss. Although I was recommended to go on weekdays because the prices are cheaper. P.S. You can't leave the town without trying some delicious Strawberries with Cream.

Este fin de semana estuvo de aniversario nro. 7 mi hermano @fran-b y su esposa, y por tal motivo mi hermano quiso llevar a mi cuñada a visitar La Colonia Tovar ubicada al norte del estado Aragua a unos 77 kilómetros de distancia de mi pueblito, y aproximadamente 2 horas de camino, debido a sus carreteras empinadas y con un gran número de curvas peligrosas, mi hermano no contaba con que mi cuñada nos invitaría a mí y a mi pequeño Mathias, así que el sábado a eso de las 6:00 am estábamos saliendo de casa con el rumbo fijado hacia La Colonia Tovar. Este pueblito con unas raíces bien arraigadas en la cultura alemana y donde aún puedes encontrar personas hablando alemán, y que definitivamente ha quedado como en una burbuja de tiempo en donde su arquitectura y clima se conserva aún intacto desde su creación en 1843, definitivamente una joya que nos invita a querer quedarnos a ver sus atardeceres y disfrutar de sus fríos y nublados amaneceres.
Llegamos justo a las 8:00 am y aun muchos establecimientos comerciales aun no habían abierto sus puertas, los vendedores de frutas, dulces, verduras y plantas aún se encontraban organizando los puestos que cada sábado disponen para recibir a los turistas, ya que este pequeño pueblo es muy concurrido los fines de semana, pues es el lugar perfecto de esparcimiento para los que trabajamos toda la semana.
Como llegamos temprano pudimos encontrar un puesto para estacionar el carro sin tener que pagar en los estacionamientos locales que además quedan algo retirados del casco central, lo primero que hicimos fue ir a la iglesia, esta aún se encontraba cerrada pero por llegar temprano pudimos tomar unas buenas fotografías sin interrupción de otros turistas, pudiendo además apreciar de mejor manera lo hermoso de la construcción de la iglesia, a esta hora el frio era realmente fuerte, nosotros vivimos en una zona mucho más cálida y el contraste de temperatura se puede notar mucho más rápido.
No podía dejar de hacer una buena compra de verduras y frutas, como buena amante de la cocina encontrar frutas y verduras tan frescas es definitivamente algo a lo que no puedo resistirme, además de que había una que otra variedad que en mi pueblo no se puede encontrar con facilidad y mucho menos con tal frescura, las imágenes no le hacen honor a los hermosos y vivos colores en las frutas que podemos observar en estos quioscos que encontramos a lo largo de todo es casco central del pueblito.
En la entrada del pueblo encontramos diferentes puestos con vehículos 4x4 que hacen tours por todo el pueblo y las zonas turísticas que están alejadas del casco central, los tours más económicos están en el orden de los 10 $, son realmente buenos para los que no conocen la zona, sin embargo, como no es la primera vez que vamos a La Colonia Tovar, decidimos pasar de los tours y hacer una nueva ruta nosotros mismos aprovechando que la camioneta es pequeña y nos permite entrar por esos caminos pequeños. Siendo así nos abrimos paso hacia el jardín de las Hortensias, que, aunque están por todo el pueblo en donde crecen de manera silvestre, hay unas colinas en donde el pasto es sustituido por estas flores y es inevitable tomar cientos de fotografías en el mismo, los que amamos las flores y la fotografía fácilmente nos deleitamos en un sitio así.
Hay que hacer una parada obligatoria en la fábrica de lácteos a base de leche de cabra, en donde encontramos quesos de cabra que van desde los frescos hasta los madurados, pasando por el ahumado, que es de mis favoritos, además encuentras dulces de leche de cabra, yogurt y hasta quesillo, todos realmente deliciosos. Aquí también encontramos el popular Restaurant Molino Rojo en donde además de conseguir comida deliciosa puedes tomar unas hermosas fotografías en el viejo molino de agua que hace alusión al nombre del lugar.
Saliendo del pueblo rumbo a la exposición de cerámicas artesanales no pude evitar actualizar la foto de la casa de mis sueños, esta fachada pertenece a una de las cabañas de la posada Cabañas Hessen, además una de mis favoritas, pues la atención y las habitaciones del lugar son hermosas y muy acogedoras.
Ya camino a la exposición de cerámicas artesanales no pudimos resistir detenernos en una exposición de arte moderno hecho con material reciclable por parte de Creacciones Janni, un verdadero espectáculo para los más pequeños de la casa, y para los amantes del arte como tal.
Nuestra última parada fue en Arte Cerámica Tovar, un taller de cerámicas artesanales y exposición, que sin duda alguna no debes dejar de visitar si vas a este pueblito, queda algo retirado del pueblo en la salida hacia El Junquito, Estado La Guaira, y en donde podemos observar cómo fabrican sus piezas ellos mismos y el sin fin de piezas de cerámica utilitaria y ornamentales, que sin duda nos dejara enamorados, puedo decir que los precios no son los más accesibles pero su calidad es realmente de la mejor.
No podíamos irnos sin pasar por algo de charcutería, los lugareños tienen una gran variedad de embutidos y las salchichas son de las mejores, así que no podía llegar a casa sin algo de allí, así nos fuimos a Embutidos GÜNTER, donde tienen el récord Guinness de la Salchicha más grande del mundo, y en donde además puedes disfrutar de un buen perro caliente preparado a la parrilla y comprar las variedades de embutidos que ellos allí fabrican, les soy sincera, a esta hora yo ya no pensaba en tomar fotografías, sino en comer jajaja, por lo que solo tome un par de fotografías.
Esta es solo una pequeña muestra de lo que fue nuestro día en La Colonia Tovar, sin duda un día diferente y que, recomiendo totalmente para distraer nuestra mente de la rutina cotidiana, si estas cerca de este pueblito con cultura alemana no puedes dejar de ir. Aunque me recomendaron ir los días de semana pues los precios son más económicos. P.D. No puedes irte del pueblito sin probar unas deliciosas Fresas con Crema.
