A photo shoot with the weeds - Selective Color [EN] // [ES]

Last weekend when my brother invited me for a walk through Colonia Tovar did not hesitate to accept and the first thing I fixed to go out was my camera, I had not gone out to take pictures with it in a long time, and I could not waste the opportunity, the truth is that the colors there are something wonderful , this is one of the benefits of that mountain climate so rich to spend days and days there, I certainly took a lot of photographs 830 to be exact, mostly flowers and landscapes of the place, but something that I do notice and that really I fell in love, they were the beautiful flowers that we could find in the undergrowth, and in that small town even the undergrowth is beautiful.

Of the flowers that I could see most in the undergrowth were these small Maroon Daisies (Erigeron karvinskianus), these small flowers of approximately two centimeters in diameter, are everywhere, we found some white, others in a tone very similar to fuchsia, and some shades of white with pink tones that are really beautiful, Unfortunately these photographs did not come out very well so for a next visit I will try to make them better, I did not want to use the macro lens with these small ones because to tell the truth they were somewhat removed from my reach and the results were not going to be the best, however I am quite happy with these beauties.

This tiny little flower simply captivated me, we found it scattered almost everywhere in the gardens and by the side of the roads, but it was these two solitary ones that really captivated me, because it is like that, alone where we can really observe its beauty, and with selective coloring is much more dazzling, as that sometimes somewhat pale pink color tends to stand out nicely against a dark background. These are flowers of African Knotweed (Polygonum capitatum) native to Africa and that has spread throughout the world. It is a pity that for my little town it has not arrived yet hahaha.

Another of the flowers that I saw in various parts of the town and even in the town square were these beautiful flowers of Scamonea (Ipomoea orizabensis), beautiful bells that were almost always scattered and mostly solitary, as if to say Hey here I am for you to see me! The last of them the most violet was in a fence full of old pines and their vines and almost dry, for a moment I thought about not taking it into account, because the sun did not let me make a good shot, but in the end it gave me a good lighting and although it was not the best shot, I managed to capture it.

The color contrast of some of these little flowers really looks beautiful in a full color photograph, however, the prominence given by selective coloring makes you see the hidden tonalities that color photography does not allow us to see, a white flower with a color background will always be a simple white flower, while when we turn off that color, that boring little white flower comes to life and other tonalities that are usually obviated are observed. Colors become more vibrant with this technique, which is why it is one of my favorites in photo editing.

Wow! These are great photos, since the sup of black and white in combination with the color of the flowers gives an impressive result.

I love photography but I'm yet to have a nice camera to take beautiful shots. I'm wondering how you got to make just one flower have a beautiful color and the rest are black and white. It's really beautiful 🥰.

You can take excellent shots with even a mid-range phone, most come with a decent camera and all have included a professional mode that works very well indeed, the rest is to look for what you like to photograph, for selective color editing I use Snapseed. There are very good videos you can find on youtube to learn how to do it, that's what I did.
