Watching a grass snake
The grass snake (Natrix natrix), sometimes called the ringed snake or water snake can be found near ponds and rivers. I found this beauty at a Pond in Vienna where I was taking pictures of Herons and other birds when it suddenly swam by. With all the herons probably a dangorous place for the snake since they often eat snakes like this one. I h ad to be pretty fast and couldn't adjust any settings on my camera since it swam by very quickly. This snakes fees on frogs and frog eggs as well as small amphibia.
I think I was able to take some really nice picture of a very beautiful specimen here. When I think about it snakes are a bit underrepresentated in my photography collection since I rarely see some. And If I see a snake it often dissapeares or is on its way to a hide. Thats very sad since they are really beautiful and usually you don't have to be scare of them since most snakes only bite humans when they feel they are in danger.

When I see how good these pictures turned out in just seconds without any preparation since the snake swam by and was gone only seconds after it appeared I am really happy about it and I think that I need to put more focus on beautiful animals like this snake here.

What a Shots
This is amazing snake, a terrifying look
Quite a few nice shots!! Yep, snakes are likely the wildlife I photograph the least, they are sneaky!! Last time I was able to photograph one was in a natural park near Split, where a water snake was happily posing for photos in one of the ponds. I feel lucky everytime I see one, if I can photograph then it's the cherry on top!
Snakes cause me a bit of... zzzzzzzzz... I don't know. A bad feeling. But these are very good captures.👌
(And this one is almost called nanixxx) 😂
