Little Bittern Hunting and eating a fish
On one of my photography trips to Vienna with Stefan I had the luck that I found a little bittern hunting for fish very close. This usual very shy bird wasn't shy at all and was hunting for fish at a park with a lot of people around - But as usual most of the people didn't even recognize the bird. Stefan and I were waiting at the Pond for hours and when the little bittern finally showed up we had the luck that we could take some very close up pictures of the bird when it was fishing in the pond.

It's rare to see this shy bird so bold around people. It seems like a lucky moment, but every shot clearly shows the photographer's skill.

I've seen this species more often in my hand while ringing than in binoculars.
There are some in Třeboň in Southern Bohemia but I only have a photo from a distance of it flying over the reeds.
150-600mm lens that's an amazing gadget.
