Little bittern catching fish at the Water Lilly Pond
On one of my numerous photography trip to Vienna I was able to watch a little bittern catching fish at the water lilly pond very close to my photographic position. Since I already knew that at least two little bitterns live at the pond and come out regulary I only had to wait on the side of the pond and take some pictures as soon as the little bittern appeared. But to my luck it was really fishing up close and also had luck with a catch, that it swallowed right away. I was amazed in what speed this all happend I am lucky that I had my camera on burst shot otherwise I couldn't have the whole process on pictures.
I find it very amazing that this bird can run over the leafes of the water lillies and doesn't sink in.
