Birdwatching at the Cementary

The Cementary is one of my favorite spots to take some pictures of birds and other animals since they are not that shy there and it is easier getting close to them. One bird family that can be found there quite often is the woodpeckers. May it be the great spotted woodpecker or the Eurasian green woodpecker, i often manage to take some pictures of these birds there. The great spotted woodpecker likes old trees where it can find insects that hide in the dead wood of the trees and since a lot of the trees at the cementary are not cut down but are left to die there, insects place their lava there and provide a nice food source for the woodpeckers.

On a nice and sunny day there is a lot of activity at the cemetery forest and woodpeckers are one of the bird species that can be seen there pretty often. Now when the weather will be warmer again in spring and when several birds will return from the south I hope I can get some more pictures of nice birds there at the cementary forest but I also plan to visit the nature reserves at the Traun and Inn River again here in Upper Austria for some pictures.
