Birdwatching and Photographing at Lake Neusiedler

Still one of the best spots for birdphotography in Austria is "Lake Neusiedler" in the eastern part of Austria to the border of Hungary although unfortunately it recently has less and less water so birding there is also getting more difficult. In the last couple of years I visited this spot for some birdphotography together with Stefan and we nearly every time got back with some great pictures.

This year we decided to skip Lake Neusiedler and we decided to visit Lake Balaton in Hungary. We hope we will find several nice birds and interesting insects as well as a nice landscape there. I also like to try several hungarian specialities like gulash, Lángos , Kolbász, Paprikás Csirke, Nokedli, Túrógombóc there. I am already looking forward to this short holiday with great anticipation. Good food, hopefully nice weather, beautiful landscape and a lot of birds. I will definitely write some posts here about this holiday when I come back. Now I will still need to wait 2 Months for this holiday to happen but my anticipation is growing with every day this date comes closer.

On Lake Neusiedler there is a "big" wildlife habitat for birds and other animals that's why it is probaby easier to find some seldom bird species there. And a lot of the habitat is protected wildlife area so there is no direct access allowed. But stil waiting on the edges of the habitat gives me always good results. As well as near the lake or at the "Hansag" a protected area with a lot of fields and grassland for birds.

Awesome photos! I really enjoyed birding near Balaton, the only time I visited Hungary. Near Tihany, which is next to the lake, there are also marshlands with a ton on life. Cheers! !PIZZA
