Why do we feel tenderness for babies of any species?

Hello Hivians. It's already Friday and the weekend is just around the corner, I hope you enjoy the first weekend of spring. Today I didn't want to make a very thoughtful article but rather a more emotional one and I wanted to ask you a question that I have always asked myself.
Why do babies of any species transmit tenderness to us?

It's something that has always seemed a little incomprehensible to me because feeling tenderness for your offspring or those of your species makes sense but feeling tenderness for the offspring of another species that could even kill you doesn't seem to make much sense. But the truth is that it is like that, most of us see a baby Tiger and we melt instantly.

I have been looking for what the reasons could be. First I asked the AI but it didn't seem to have much data so I did a more traditional search in the search engine.
Apparently it is a mainly biological issue that can even be imitated with human creation. The physical traits of the offspring are decisive. They have a disproportionate head in relation to the body, large eyes and peculiar movements.
It also influences that we see them vulnerable, not as a threat, and that generates empathy towards them.

Perhaps all these aspects make our paternal instinct emerge in us, for which we are genetically prepared, and that is what generates this tenderness towards children in general.
