Route through the sky, an adventure between Mallos and magical sunsets/Ruta por el cielo, una aventura entre Mallos y atardeceres mágicos

When the good weather arrives, you want to leave your routine and certain comforts behind. It's time to grab your backpack and explore new routes, paths that fill you with experiences and emotions. One of the options that I liked the most is the El Camino del Cielo hiking route, in the Spanish region of Aragón. It is a common destination for climbers because its great attraction are enormous stone masses, called Mallos, on which numerous routes have been opened.

But hikers also have the opportunity to enjoy a circular route of little difficulty but great landscape quality. Leaving the small town of Riglos, you climb little by little along rocky paths but without any technical difficulty. You can even go as a family with children from about 8 years of age.

The biggest problem may be choosing a hot, sunny summer day. It is necessary to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, as along the path there are few sections that offer comforting shade. However, when you reach the heights you get the great reward of its viewpoints that combine the vision of the large rocks with the valley and the meandering of the Gállego River. But for bird lovers, the great spectacle awaits them of admiring the flight of the vultures that nest in the inlets and outlets. At some viewpoints, you can even see them flying at a lower altitude than my position, which is very unusual in bird watching.

On the way back, it is also advisable to take the car and go to a viewpoint on the outskirts of the town of Riglos from which to wait for the sunset. The sunset is, as they say, magical. In this case, the common place is worth it because the Mallos, the stone masses, are dressed in different reddish colors as the faint light of the evening accompanies them.

Cuando llega el buen tiempo apetece dejar atrás la rutina y ciertas comodidades. Es hora de coger la mochila y explorar nuevas rutas, caminos que te llenen de experiencias y emociones. Una de las opciones que más me han gustado es la ruta excursionista de El Camino del Cielo, en la región española de Aragón. Es destino habitual de escaladores pues su gran atractivo son unas enormes moles de piedra, llamadas Mallos, sobre las que se han abierto numerosas vías.

Pero también los excursionistas tienen su oportunidad de disfrutar una ruta circular de poca dificultad pero gran calidad paisajística. Saliendo del pueblecito de Riglos se va subiendo poco a poco por senderos pedregosos pero sin ninguna dificultad técnica. Incluso se puede ir en familia con niños a partir de unos 8 años de edad.

El mayor problema puede ser elegir un día soleado y caluroso de verano. Es necesario ir provisto de agua en abundancia y de crema solar, pues a lo largo del camino hay pocos tramos que ofrezcan una reconfortante sombra. Sin embargo, al llegar a las alturas se obtiene la gran recompensa de sus miradores que combinan la visión de las grandes rocas con el valle y el serpenteo del río Gállego. Pero para los amantes de las aves, les espera el gran espectáculo de admirar el vuelo de los buitres que anidan en los entrantes y salientes. En algunos miradores, incluso puede observar cómo volaban a una altura inferior a mi posición, cosa muy infrecuente en la observación de aves.

De regreso, también es recomendable coger el coche y acercarse a un mirador a las afueras del pueblo de Riglos desde el cual esperar la puesta de sol. El atardecer es, como se suele decir, mágico. En este caso el lugar común merece la pena pues los Mallos, las moles de piedra, van vistiéndose de diferentes colores rojizos a medida que las acompaña la tenue luz del atardecer.
