Crazy Thursday - Alive And Thriving - Actifit: May 25, 2023

On my Thursday it was a bit colder compared to the days before, which was quite nice, and I got a few pictures from the evening as well.
In the day I had quite a bit to do offline, and then I went on Hive in the late afternoon and evening.
First I made a post about ALIVE Power delegations and the options to earn from them.
Then I continued with the daily Hive tasks, and it got really crazy with all the issues on Hive-engine, so I was delayed a few hours because of it.
I still managed to complete the daily tasks, but our weekly staking contest had to wait until Friday, and it got really late when I went to bed.
This is my participation in the #POLIAC competition run by @poliac aka @browery, and my participation in #MAcFiT from @macfit aka @merthin.

Thanks a lot Tydyn, and yeah they have been repeatedly hit with DDOS of bad queries to their API's which ate 100% of server CPU for the nodes.

Ugh! That's a problem! Do they know the origins of the DDOS attacks? Who and why is my question. Hive definitely still needs a lot of work on its redundency and resiliency. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
They don't know who, but they learned a lot on how to stop that type if attacks.

Well, yes, Hive Engine specifically in this case, but it applies to the whole ecosystem. We need to get all of it battle tested and hardened! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Yeah that is right, and for HE in particular it really needs more decentralization, swap tokens are centralized, and so are the bridges to other blockchains on HE, the sidechain and smart contracts on it are decentralized though.

Wow, yeah, the centralized nature of those HE elements is a definite problem. Greater decentralization really needs to be a top priority. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Yeah, they have come quite a bit from the start though, which was that the whole sidechain was centralized, the sidechain is fully decentralized, but like I said on and off plus swap tokens are still centralized, but so are all bridges between any blockchain more or less as assets from another chain has to be kept in escrow by a wallet, the least centralized for that part on Hive would be honeycomb at Dlux which the SPK tokens are issued at, they use a multisig wallet, the only way to fully decentralize this is to have all tokens issued on layer 1.
I think that in time HE will have no choice but to go fully decentralized, they are based in the US after all, and one way to actually go full decentralization on the market is to use Diesel Pools and tie tokens to BEE as that is decentralized plus the base token for any feature on HE, then build many bridges between Hive and BEE, then there would be no need for swap tokens.

I really appreciate how well informed you are on all this, Erik. Where is all this information? I'm fascinated by it all, but I don't see this sort of technical information popping up so often. I think that we need to decentralize, or better still, distribute, everything. Otherwise we will always have points of attack and failure. I think you're brilliant in your solution. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
I dig into how it all works, much needed for when you code stuff, much of the documentation is on Github and Gitlab.
