Take A Look At University Of Sumatera Utara Hospital
Hello my dear friends.
How often do you visit hospital? If you are totally healthy, maybe once or twice a year? If you have a sick relatives, maybe a lot of time a year? I hope we’re all always be healthy, guys. Still, going to hospital is something unavoidable if you have a problem that needed to be fixed. I know that coming to hospital is never a joyful activity (well, maybe when you’re expecting a baby then its a different story). I always avoided them too. More the reason for that is because i am using health insurance from government, it means that for getting treated i should faced a really long process. Going here then going there. The unending waiting lines. So many things to face off that it always makes me lazy to even think about it. For this problem of mine, i cant avoid them anymore since its been months that i live with the pain almost 24/7. Its playing with my mind too. So, i decided to do it. In my clinic, they offer me to go to this hospital to get myself treated. This hospital is University of Sumatera Utara’s hospital. Since i attended this university before, i am not a stranger to this hospital. But, this hospital build near my end of university days. So, the experience of me with this hospital was when i take care of my late auntie.
In those times, i was always come in the evening and come out in early morning. I was also take care of my sick aunt all the time. I dont have a chance to look at what this hospital really looks like. What i remembered about this hospital was the dark hall, the dark elevator, the empty hospital. It was because my aunt came in here when the hospital is newly opened. Its always scary to go out so i prefer to never go out of the room except if i need to go back home. This is my first time seeing this hospital so clearly. I didn’t realize how pretty this hospital are. All of the dark memories i have inside of my mine was gone when i went there to treat myself. When we enter the hospital, right in the middle and behind the information center located this miniature of what the hospital looks like. I have never seen this in the other hospital in my city that i visited before, so i found them surprising.
This is the miniature from other perspective. Its quite a pity that i cant take the picture from the top nicely because i was too short. Its really nice to look at the miniature, right? I always love looking at miniature of a building. While looking at the miniature, we can see what the building looks like if we saw them as a whole. Except that the front of a building is really empty, its almost impossible to look at the building as a whole like this. We can see the every little detail that they have and what the place looks like as a whole.
The Outside
This is what the hospital looks like from the outside. First of all, i want to mention that i love that this hospital have such a big parking space. I dont know why but its very hard to find a hospital with good parking space in my city. It seems like everyone didnt think about the parking space when they build their hospital. Most of the hospital that i found in here makes their patient to park in the main road. Its such a hassle and that makes a traffic for the visitor of the hospital and the other road users. We will not face that kind of things with this hospital. I don’t particularly like their orange color. Since the university color is dark green, i think green will looks better rather than this bright orange color but well, its another things that makes them different, never saw a hospital with this color in here.
The Inside
This hospital is huge. So, even if there’re so many people in there.m, we will never feel crowded because there’s so much space to breath. The hall and everything still looks pretty empty but do trust me this hospital is not empty at all when i am there. There’s a lot of people but since the hospital staff works quite fast and the space itself is big, its easy to find an empty spot here and there. This is so my kind if hospital. I visited a lot of hospital that makes us feels sick just being there because we’re so close to countless of sick people. We have no space to breathe.
Honorary Mention
Their beautiful ceiling that makes me keep staring at them. It also helps me to be more calm while waiting for my turn.

the building is orange and white themed, reminds me of a football club. 😂😂😂 Thank you for giving a review for this building
Hehe its quite unusual for hospital right
Wow, that was good desain and the colour of that buildings.
Round roof make the interior looks elegant with spiral ledders, and the combination of white colour make it looks pretty good.
Hi, yes the roof is really nice same like their ceiling. I like them a lot. I actually wonder if it’s reachable lol
Mantap...👍
Wow it is indeed a beautiful ceiling design. I could feel it even though just by looking through your photo. The hospital looks modern, clean and spacious. I don't think I have been to any of a big and nice hospital like this one.
Do you have to book a time to visit the hospital or you can just walk in?
I can just walk in anytime for this hospital but i need to make sure that i have a referral letter from my previous clinic since i use a health insurance. So all of my treatment will be free.
I see. I guess It is the same system with Vietnam and NZ as we need referral letters as well
I really like the architectural design of the stairs which are neatly lined up between all the floors, very beautiful.
The ceiling is amazing, I totally agree with you, won't get tired of seeing this
Its surely help to see the ceilings or even take a walk in near their parking lot while waiting for our appointment or something in the hospital. Its a hospital that doesnt make us feel suffocated
Love the scaled model. This made me remember my plan of creating this kind of scaled model. I hope I have the time to do so.
I hope you can have time to make yours soon ☺️

Hello @firayumni. It's definitely a huge relief that your fear of that healthcare environment, due to your past events, have now been debunked by your wonderful realization of its architectural splendor. Do you know that architecture immensely helps in the healing process of patients? Nowadays, some medical buildings even go to the extent of designing their facilities like luxurious hotels simply to provide the accompanying experiences of recovery with therapy and well-being. 😊
May I ask why that hospital's beautiful circular ceiling makes you feel calm?
Yes i feel better when i come to this hospital compared to hospital i visit after this one eventhough i am doing the exact same treatment. About the ceiling, i dont know, i always like simple round and spiraling stuffs, reminds me of getting hypnotized i always seen on tv when i was young. I guess its related to that.
Right. Geometric shapes do influence psychological behavior and your attraction to circular and other round objects is a great example. I'm also inclined to them due to their dynamism as they inspire continuous motion. 😊
