Things Still Grow in Dreary Weather

Today is the last day of frost, probably the last post I will make until next year: Unless I can scrape together enough $$$ to get my indoor light for the clone room. [That is one of my 2026 goals]. Anyways, long story short I wanted to go mushroom picking today and capture some great last minute photography of the wilderness. I saw a nice post today from @maxinpower about things still growing in dreary weather. It's probably a coincidence, but I'm taking it as a cosmic universal sign.

Tomorrow is the first day of frost. Speaking of cosmic universal signs, I found a cool rose quartz. One of the better specimen I have found around here. Side quest: Find the Rose Quartz source. I've already found a good site for some other crystals around here and a small cave. Nothing too fancy though: *Nothing of actual value. But, I have found some good clues! And personally I would love a huge and beautiful Rose Quartz specimen. Maybe with some gold.

Above is a place where I have found a good amount of mushrooms growing before.
To the right of the yellow bush is where there is a small valley. It's a very peaceful place. Imagine a parked car where the picture is being taken. Great place to park. during the heat of the summer I will sit right under that large bush because it's the only shade on that side of the street. There are no trees in the valley or on the other side.. That's why the bush grows there. The valley opens up on the other side to some foothills and there is a property fence line and the mushrooms grow there.

You can see there are still a lot of plants growing. Very beautiful shades of flora and fauna. but, I only found a few random mushrooms. And only found those heading on the other side of the road. There is a breathtaking swamp area in the middle of the creek. It's full of different grasses and lotus-like plants floating in the slow moving water. And you can sit in the tall grass on the sloped hill and easily not be seen. It's literally the perfect place to take a nap outdoors.

You want to be careful taking naps though! There were some hunters out that day. You could hear them shooting at the side of some hill. BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! My hunt for mushrooms was also futile. Morels rarely grow during the spring in large amounts, if at all. So it was more of an excuse to get some fresh air and take some pictures. Speaking of taking pictures: I have really embraced phone pics: like the picture below: Which I think reflects my 35mm photos.

It's good practice anyways while i test some 35mm toy cameras that I just ordered. I always loved shooting in anything that resembles diffused light or slightly overcast where there's no shadow. I think the afternoon/evening is the best [but also dusk, especially if you have good light aperture]. I think that's the worst part about shooting with a phone camera. After the sun sets, the colors just kind of grey out. Anyways, hope everyone likes the blog I had a great walk in the woods. Once I take some 35mm photography test shots, I'll post some B roll stuff here. Bye for now.
