Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill as the Perfect Model

000.JPG

At first, I wanted to share this post in the birding community, but the Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill posed so lovely for me I could not think of it as a model. Hence, the reason why I am sharing it here in the photography community.

One morning drinking coffee, I heard the various calls of birds and realised that someone threw some food on the ground. I began photographing the birds and then I saw the hornbill feeding between the many birds. Its massive beak stood out and I could not miss it. It did not fly away and seemed fine with me coming up close to it. So I managed to get some pretty nice photographs of it in action. As it feeds, it throws the food into its beak. It is a spectical. (At the end of the post, I placed a video I took of the ordeal. Sorry that it is vertical and not upright, I am new to the whole video game and nothing I tried wanted to frame it correctly.)

In any case, I hope you enjoy this bird-photography post!

If you look closely at the photograph below, you can see its eyelashes and the strange foot. Their toes are fused/grown together. They are really beautiful!

The next three photographs, you can see it eating a grain of food. It throws it into the back of its beak and eats it.

In any case, I really hope you enjoyed this post of this spectacular bird friend. It was so photogenic and played the role of the perfect model. The bird holds extreme significance for many people in the area and I can really see why. From the feathers to the beak to the eye lashes. It is seriously a beautiful friend.

For now, happy photographing and keep well. Enjoy my attempt at a video below!

All of the photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300 and Tamron 300mm zoom lens. The video is also my own, taken with my Nikon D3200. The writings are also my own.

Thank you so much for the visit! They are surely beautiful. It is amazing how tame they become and are used to humans being close by. They almost snatch the food from your hand. Have a blessed weekend!

Very nice captures!
...and the pattern of the feathers he has is awesome, almost looks like fish scales but made from feathers, I like that!

Only joking as I call anything big and feathered a fancy chicken. Once long ago I said that a peacock was a fancy chicken and a guy wanted to know what their eggs tasted like.
