A Poem After the Rain

1.JPG

This morning it rained; it was a wonderful blessing. The grass and the plants thanked the rain, and new growth already emerged. It is amazing how nature can with the mere touch of rain regrow itself. It was very dry for so long, but the rain calmed everything down. The rain was unexpected because it should only arrive in May and June, not March. But the gift of unexpected rain is wonderful.

So please enjoy this poem I wrote to celebrate the rain with the photographs I took this morning of the flowers this morning. After the rain, the light is always perfect for photography.

After the Rain

2.JPG

golden droplets
drip drip drip
perfect symmetry
perfect alignment

3.JPG

drunken poison
the cure for the toxin
in bite the of an apple
please the soul
so that the mind can grasp
the words that drip
from the leaves

4.JPG

rosemary longing
the smell of desire
I wonder about
in a maze of yearning

5.JPG

rosemary longing
nostalgia burns
like an open fire
for what was
and what will come
of rosemary longing
can you soothe my soul

6.JPG

after the rain
my soul is washed
by nature's touch
anew I see
the world

7.JPG

the smell of flowers
the small of youth
I wonder anew
from where you will touch
my soul

8.JPG

flowers abundant
scents so strange
I wonder
from where
you will shine your light

9.JPG

oh flower of youth
can you not break my soul
into a million pieces
so that I
can rebuild my world

10.JPG

darkend skies
fly over my head
the shadows of the clouds
a new threat

11.JPG

but I know
from so many years
reasurance
is merely a cloud
of rain
that covers my soul
with a wool blanket

12.JPG

rain droplets of my youth
take over my soul
for I am old
in spirit

13.JPG

was me clean
of the sins
the past is lazy
akin to wine
that sits in a bottle
to never be drunk

14.JPG

the rose of my life
can reap the sorrow
oh bless me with rain
so that the morrow can be
a sun that shines

15.JPG

sour your words
burn my skin
the rain was never again
the washing of skin
breath fire
in my throat
oh my soul
can you not wait

16.JPG

for today
I will not stand still
in the weight
of your wonder

Postscriptum

The morning rain made me drunk, the fresh air was something special. The rain was not supposed to fall now, but we never complain.

I hope you enjoyed the poem. It was something new. The rain had me properly drunk. The fresh air was too much.

In any case, the photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300 and 300mm zoom lens. The poem is also my own. I hope you enjoyed it. Happy photographing, stay well.

I did indeed enjoy this content @fermentedphil
I used to walk outside after a rain, when it had been dry for a time, and it
Seemed to me that I could hear the woods and plants around me
SINGING in thankfulness and gratitude!

I feel the same every time I walk outside as well. The flowers that open after the rain seem to sing their song to me, we - the poets - merely need to listen to their song and write it down!

But but but... that for me is like trying to remember to write down what dream upon waking.

Writing about a sensation like hearing the plants singing after the fact, pales in comparison to the event itself.

Always. You cannot ever capture the first-hand experience. Few people will. I remember in my younger days (I am still relatively young haha) I went out to play golf first thing in the morning. Dew lay fresh on the grass. My shoes were the first ones to break the perfect matt of dew. That calm morning sound, maybe a bird in the distance. But that was a quiet and calmness that not even a poem or a reminiscing about the memory will copy.

So yes, the experience of it is most important. To lose oneself in that moment.

The morning rain made me drunk, the fresh air was something special.

It is as if you feel the relief of all the plants that where dying in the dry! Or a spring rain waking up the sprouts and flowers after a long winter sleep...
I always loved those moments after the rain, and it was lovely to come across your expressions of it!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Yes, it is amazing to feel that moment after the rain when the earth takes a breath. It is a different kind of quiet, it is almost as if the fresh air affects the sounds in nature as well.
