INTRODUCTION:
Monoon Longifolium, also known as "false ashoka" which is commonly known by its synonym "Polyalthia longifolia", It is an Asian small tree species belonging in the family Annonacea. It is native to Sri Lanka and southern India, but has been introduced widely elsewhere in tropical Asia.

DESCRIPTION:
The evergreen tree is known to grow about 20m in it's height and is commonly cultivated due to its effectiveness in alleviating anything "noise pollution". It possess a symmetrical pyramidal growth with a willowy weeping pendulous branches and having long narrow lanceolate leaves with undulate margins.

The methanolic extracts from Monoon longifolium have yielded upto 20 known organic compounds and two newly discovered organic compounds. Some of which show cytotoxic (Any substance that have a specific toxic effect on certain cells) properties, which the fatty acid composition of the seed has as well been reported.
