Capturing Love: An Outdoor Wedding Story

IMG_3305.jpeg

"On one of our photography outings in nature, we brought along a beautiful couple dressed in wedding attire. I decided to share their photos with you because, in my opinion, the lighting, poses, and the genuine connection between them were truly captivating and worth dedicating some time to appreciate. When I photograph outdoors in forests and open spaces during daylight, I typically use a portable beauty dish. However, sometimes I rely solely on natural daylight and a reflector to bounce light onto my subjects where needed."

"We found a dreamy location along a river, featuring a sturdy tree trunk that had been reshaped by past flood damage, transforming it into a popular spot for sitting, photography, and videography. The tree had two large, robust branches extending from its top and bottom. I positioned the bride and groom in the center and asked them to stand close, touching foreheads. With my assistant's help, I arranged the bride's train, which had become slightly disheveled. This pose is often my go-to for the first shot, as it encourages intimacy and connection between the couple, helping them feel more comfortable and natural in subsequent poses, resulting in more captivating photos."

"For the next shot, I asked them to sit on the tree trunk. The groom stood behind the bride, who held her bouquet and gently grasped his hand while gazing up at him. I arranged her train to create a beautiful, flowing effect. The groom's pose involved holding the bride's hand closest to the camera and leaning slightly towards his right shoulder, giving him a more prominent and confident appearance. I also captured a shot of them looking directly at the camera, as some couples prefer this direct engagement."

"I then asked the bride to pose with the river as her backdrop, holding her bouquet and looking to her right. I emphasized the importance of the train, especially in outdoor settings, as it can easily get caught on things. Since many wedding dresses are rentals and will be worn throughout the celebration, it's crucial to keep them in pristine condition. I recommend having an assistant specifically dedicated to managing the train, allowing them to focus on both its arrangement and preservation. I repeated the same pose using a 70mm lens for a closer shot."

"In the fifth photo I shared, I included the groom in the background and slightly repositioned the bride, while also changing my own angle. This shot suggests a narrative, perhaps the groom approaching his bride. I personally loved this photoshoot and the resulting images. If I have the opportunity in the coming days, I'll be sure to share more of these photos with you after editing them."
