A great example of community art: ceramic mosaic mural in Budaörs

We've heard of community gardens, community bread baking, exchange markets, outreach services, but community art is something special. It doesn't just take an enthusiastic community to create it, it takes someone with an idea, a plan.
However, all members of the community must vibrate on the same wavelength to create harmony, just like in an orchestra. In this case, the notes are replaced by small and large glazed ceramic plates.
How they were made and in how long I don't know exactly, but since each element has its own place, the design of these could not have been random.
All I know is that hundreds of people took part in the project, but mostly the students and teachers of the Illyés Gyula High School in Budaörs.
The more elaborate pieces were made by the art students and their teachers, but the simpler ones could be made by anyone, from the children's parents to other townspeople.
I visited the site weeks ago and photographed this wonder that has been delighting people for years. Where there were originally ugly concrete retaining walls, there is now a cavalcade of colors, shapes and textures. Besides a radiant vitality and cheerfulness, there is also humor.
Fortunately, the vandals operating in Hungary have not made their way here, perhaps because the community is looking after it.

On the same wavelength, with many different faces and personalities

I am sure that these faces are also the work of teenage students, infused with their own wry humor and irony.

This is a great example of the creative power of community. I don't know of any other places like this in the country, but I promise I will look into it.
