India Diaries: The City of Heritage

Kolkata, a city of West Bengal of India.
This one single city is entitled with many artistic names.

The city of Culture, the City of Joy, the City of heritage, and many more!

And to your pleasant amazement, regardless of Kolkata being a single city and all those titles represent entirely different form, yet every name will uphold its title precisely as it goes by!
Well of course, if I start to show you around the whole city, hundreds of pictures will not be enough to express the traditions and heritage of Kolkata!

I would try to to portray the City of Heritage part in this article.

That is through one of the amazing site, The Metcalfe hall
The Metcalfe Hall can be a brief glimpse of treasury heritage.

Amazing mandala art covering the long corridor, the moment you set foot inside.

When you reach the end of the corridor, you will enter the main hall where the show starts! A little history of it's objective and about Kolkata.

And prior to the stairs, at the left you will find this fascinating idea. Write something about your travel experience and keep it inside the Rickshaw!
Leaving your travel memories of Kolkata

I even read some of others memories from there!

A short glimpse of Kolkata "then"... The Black & white elegancy.
IMG20220710114857.jpgAnd under the projection the explained what are those memories of

Kolkata now...The colorful city life

Also loved this beautifully decorated marriage ceremony arrangement

Aside from portraying Kolkata traditions, culture and life-style, they also classically focused on presenting the music, dance, literature, cinema and many more arts.
I am barely holding back to share all those amazing pictures!
It will only ruin your fun of visit if I show everything here right!
So trust me and visit Metcalfe Hall.
And I will just drop two of my most favorite shots here!
IMG20220710121739.jpg
How artistic they are, the whole wall, stairs even the ceiling were decorated with famous cinema and literature posters!
I can't recall how long I had sit on this stair, staring at everything, reminiscing the memory of the books and cinemas.
IMG20220710121812.jpgI felt lost in mesmerizing awe while sitting on the stairs amidst all these classical feelings!

Also because there were not literally anyone around, which made it more amazing to roam around in silence!
I was glad that Metcalfe Hall wasn't much famous to be packed by tourist.
So thought not to talk about it in the travel community! But then the magnificence derived me to show others of this amazing presentation as well!

The Metcalfe hall was not a big building but it had taken nearly 3 hours for me to finish roaming!
Not only that, I still feel unsatisfied.
I will always visit The Metcalfe Hall every time I visit Kolkata, that is for certain.

People sometimes have work to do :)

Also I don't enjoy Durga Puja of Kolkata, the way it is done now. This is not the way it is supposed to be done. So I am not interested in that part of it.

This is a business trip, I will remain in India till 26th. I am heading to Delhi tomorrow, then Dehradun and then to Chennai....

Lots of work to do

Yes, you did tell that before.
I didn’t see the previous times. But it is still not that bad. At least I adore the festive vibe. Where do we even get that much at this mechanical era.

Uhhhh long trip I see. Dehradun is so amazing.
I envy you even if it’s work!
It would be nice to bump into you on the road of Kolkata.

I didn't know that you are in town, and seems like this is an extended stay for you. My travel plans were widely known in the community. If I knew you were in town, I would have made an effort to meet you.....

Unfortunately too late now.

Uhh yes, you said you will be coming in November along with the kids! I hope that plan is still on.
