Summer drought

I could dramatize here a bit and say that I don't remember how rain looks like. I could. Because it has been a long time since it rained. The sky is blue, the sun is hot - the usual. And it is gonna be weeks until the weather changes and it starts to finally rain.

All the areas that are not regularly watered are dry and yellow. Some flowers might bloom here and there, but it generally everything looks quite miserable. That's why summer sucks :p

The Briza below is light green in spring. Now the whole plant is dead and the little pockets rattle on the wind. Quite a pleasant sound.

After the spring boom dry seeds are everywhere. Spiky ones, fluffy ones any shape and size. Some are protected by nasty thorns, some shoot out to get as far as possible from a mother plant.

This is how the area looked like.
Plenty of sunburn and bug bites to catch.

Bonus shot:
Despite the are being very dry, it is full of bugs, seeds and the trees around provide some shade. There is plenty of birds around that I could hear, but I couldn't see. Except this little one. He stopped for a bit on the lower branches and then few away.

Can you see it?

bugs and insects are way to active in this heat and it doesn't realy cooldown at night either , although the weather forecast says it will be 9 degrees celcius friday night here so Saturday morning might be a purrrfect morning to catch some more macro models for me. Hope it will cooldown for you too ;)

9 in a summer is really low! We do get colder nights... like 19 :P which is super pleasant.
Winter is coming... soon :)

We were very dry until about an hour ago and the heavens opened with a massive storm and rain! Glad we kept out power on though.

Okay, I got popcorn and I'm waiting for it :D

Briza! Look how cute it is, I wanna find it here and take it with me, I need a home deco.

Sorry to make you wait for 4 days, I hope you ate the popcorn already :p

But seriously. Wtf is wrong with the weather? The rain just gets sucked somewhere and we get fuck all.
The bugs of course love it. They buzz around and hit you in a face like you are their bitch cause they know you are too slow to react and whack them back. Assholes.

now lets see if this thing works

Someone f*** up the things seriously this time, talking about the weather. Lack of rain and very high temperatures for longer than a month, on the other hand somewhere rain pours like crazy and in the end we are all fckd up.

I'm just about to make a post, complaining about the buggers and their greedy appetite.

According to the amount of time I was waiting on the comment and nowadays temperatures, I could make some popcorn, and eat them all alone. :P

Could feel the heat too, we are already two months without real rain. And we're restricting our electricity usage from 8AM to about 4PM, to save from the surging electricity costs 🥵

Oh that is bad. In my hometown when heat last too long there are water restrictions as the levels are dropping really low. You are not allowed to water your garden, so basically everything just dries up unless you have some own storage or deep well.

That's the last resort, especially when water is shared by a greater number of people and that's sad knowing you can't do anything when that happens. I hope it starts raining there :)

Love these close-up shots 😍 The details are incredibly sharp and on focus, well done!

I remember the first time I visited Portugal. It was summer and I could literally feel the skin of my arms getting fried in the sun, even though I was constantly putting on sunscreen.
On the other hand, I suppose that nature has thought of these moments after all. Because every summer I watch what happens in our garden. Cultivated flowers disappear very quickly, but wild ones flourish all summer long, despite the incredible heat (nothing man-made lasts, unlike the natural-wild).
And look what amazing models you have for your beautiful photography!

Oh yes.. the sun here is terrible. Even if the temp shows the same as in Poland for example, the sun is not the same.

They are really though and they have to be. Nobody will take care of them.

Thank you :)

I am afraid this will be some new normality. Hot and dry summers in all Europe :(

Wow!... It looks like a strong summer and already the plants are starting to show signs corresponding to that.... They are beautiful photos, the beginnings of the droughts give beautiful and contrasting elements and colours... You have managed to take advantage of it and to record it well... Although it never ceases to amaze me how much the dry summers in Europe are resembling ours... Thank you very much for sharing @ewkaw friend!...

Thanks! The dry bits have their own charm too.
I bet the dry fields look almost the same everywhere. Its just dead and dry :P

Yes it is so hot in Europe at the moment. I often say in some places the seasons are very clear so we must enjoy the characteristics of all of them they come and go so quickly.

The field looks very patched though.

I am actually surprised how relatively cool weather we have here this summer. It is hot, but I am used to much hotter. I guess it shifted to other parts.

Yes it probably did 😀- hence other more northerly regions are warmer.

We have it really hot here in North Eastern US as well and hubby remarked just this morning that we haven't seen rain in a very long time. Which is kind of unusual for our state. Beautifuly shots!

Here it's kindof normal for summers to be hot and very dry. But winters should be very rainy and that starts to change too and there is not much rain lately too. This is quite worrying actually.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you :)
