Insect-egg Slime 3.jpg

This thing is so tiny that if it wasn't for the very bright yellow colour I would have certainly missed it. But since everything around was wet and brownish and no bigger an brighter mushrooms were trying o steal the show...
Oh hello you.. let me shoot ya!

Leocarpus fragilis

Insect-egg Slime 2.jpg

Leocarpus fragilis also has a plasmodial stage, usually following periods of rain. When the plasmodium runs out of nutrients, it will differentiate into the egg-like fruiting bodies (pictured here). These structures are specialized sporangia which disperse spores after rupturing.

It is also called Insect-Egg Slime Mold and it does look like it. If someone doesn't know that slime mold an look like this I am sure it can be mistaken as ladybird eggs.

I didn't touch it. I was afraid I would destroy it, though for scientific purpose I probably should have. Plus I don't think it would mind :p

Looks like a tiny, little tree here.

A little bit further away I found another one. I think it is the same type, though it is much darker. More mature maybe?

And now time to see how Insect-Egg Slime Mold looks in he eyes of AI:)
Because why not?

I would love to come across those lovely little jewels. Not at all what I should think something called "slime" would look like. You have such a gift for seeing the tiny beautiful things.

I’ll look out for them next time I’m in the forest. Haven’t been there for a few weeks 🙊

It is so tiny. Maybe that is why it is yellow so that it will not go unnoticed. I love the shape as well. It is certainly pretty - thanks for sharing.
