FungiFriday - To eat or not to eat

mushrooms forest pl 6.jpg

I know that some people will not go pick wild forest mushrooms. And that is ok - better be safe than sorry, as those little fellas can be deadly.
And there are also those who pick almost everything there is, even if it looks like it would kill you just by looking at it.

And then there is me :) The one that picks maybe 2 or 3 types, because I know them since I was a kid and I know how to spot the bad ones among them. The rest I will shoot. Edible or not.
And I am aware that I will probably leave behind lots of tasty ones. But that's ok too. I always come back home with a few delicious ones.

This is the delicious (top and bottom photo) guy I am talking about. Eat that! Fry it, cook it, and add it to a sauce or soup. Yum yum!

mushrooms forest pl 1.jpg

And stay away from this one. That much I know :p

Do not eat any of these. Definitely.
But then again... if you really, REALLY want to, who is going to stop you? :p

The last one, I have no idea. I would just leave it where it is.

Time for some bonus shots of a stump I found near the double mushrooms.
Lovely, rotten piece of wood covered in lichens.

Falling apart bit by bit. Years of hot sun, wind, rain and lichens and it looks like a skeleton.
So pretty!

Wonderful photos - the edible and the poisonous- maybe too pretty to eat. Great that you can identify some from childhood.

There aren't many mushrooms from where I come from. I'll, however, be more careful which one not to touch now 😁. Great pictures my friend and your take on the mushrooms is great too. Have a bliss day ahead 💞

I'm not familiar with those mushrooms that can be seen in the forest or in some other place but one thing I know you can't eat the mushrooms with a vibrant color. They said that's poisonous.😬

you can't eat the mushrooms with a vibrant color

I am not sure if that is always correct, but if it helps, then better stick to it. Though more normal looking ones can be poisonous too.

I am scared to eat wild mushrooms! 😆 Who knows if it is poisonous? I only eat those in cans or grocery-bought. I recently blogged an easy shiitake mushroom recipe. 😊

Anyway, always a great shot of shrooms!

Who knows if it is poisonous?

The ones that ate them as survived 😂

There are plenty of edible mushrooms in the wild, we just have to learn how to recognize them.

Absolutely right, better be sure than sorry. 💯% sure identification is necessary to avoid poisoning, be wary of the look alikes, In doubt, do not touch or eat as we know, some mushrooms can be very fatal. 👍

Thankfully we are all still alive after my mushroom picking :) And of course, whenever I am in doubt I just dont take it.

I am also one of the connoisseurs of mushrooms, but if we talk about mushroom dishes, of course we must first understand what types of mushrooms can be cooked or fried, I salute you starting from children you have learned about them. Good shot,I love this type of mushroom.

It is good to learn from someone that knows and can show you exactly what is good to pick and what is not.
Thank you :)

Nice photos! I would love to grow some mushrooms one day. Some youngsters who helped out on our garden had just built a mushroom hut. They wanted to grow mushrooms to earn some income. Hopefully the hut won’t be flooded away like their first one last year!
I look forwards to getting some fresh mushrooms in a few months!

They lost their first one? :(
It would be so cool to have own mushrooms. There are some small kits available to grow them in the kitchen. I am tempted to try one of them.

I am not very knowledgeable about this, but my family knows everything. We eat whatever mushrooms they pick. But as you said, I would never eat the mushroom in the 2nd photo XD This is obvious.

Oh but the second one is very much edible :D That's the ones I normally pick.

Good morning dear friend @ewkaw
Edible- Not edible, is the dilemma when you are faced with a wild mushroom, given that there are many varieties that are very similar to each other. I always recommend being 100% sure before consuming, it is preferable to pay for them in a store and not take unnecessary risks.
Beautiful varieties you have found, I appreciate you sharing with us
Have a splendid day

If someone is not sure they definitely should pick and eat them.
Thanks, have a nice day too :)

A post you made long ago mentioned "Chicken of the Woods" when cooked and seasoned. Taste just like chicken.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Vegetarians would love this. Chicken tasting mushroom.
