And so, let me try to explain once again how a contrasting street differs from a reportage and spotty street.

A contrasting street. I named this subgenre that way because when I'm on such a creative wave, I want to see a lot of deep shadows, different traps of light, silhouettes in the frame.

I pay attention to geometry, shapes, lines – physics works.

Spotted street. I've talked about this subgenre many times. Here, the attention is stolen by the accumulation of details so that the frame is colorful, a lot of people, everything is mixed up in a pile.

The plot in this case does not make any sense, the picture is close to the graphics.

Spots are best collected by a telephoto lens, but you can also create such scenes at regular focal lengths.

Reportage street. This creative wave is interesting because you want to create aesthetic pictures, reveal some stories with the help of creative techniques.

These are not just street stories on abstract topics, but with mandatory reference to any event or weather conditions.

Snowfall, rain, flowering vegetation, golden autumn, supermoon, solar eclipse...Yes, anything!

City holidays, festivals – everything that happens on the street, but is tied to the event.

Any creative techniques may be present in such pictures, even spotting or strong contrast, but they differ in increased aesthetics and meaning in the plot.

I feel all these subgenres at the level of intuition, or as I like to say, I feel the internal code.

This code is just a set of elements, keys, by which one can distinguish a particular genre.

And by these elements, you can also distinguish a good photo from a mediocre one.

There should be no color filters or strong color distortion in all of the listed subgenres.

When the interference of the graphic editor is noticeable, it means that the photo is not true.

By a true photo, I mean a picture that was taken in a reportage manner, that is, without processing, or with a minor one that does not catch the eye.

This judgment is made on the basis of a huge number of revised photographs by various photographers from around the world of the most famous news agencies.
