Northern lights in March 21

The already familiar, I would even say standard, place for shooting the northern lights is a field with a view of the Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery in Vologda. The sky show turned on after midnight, and it all started with the usual green arc.

I didn't want to go somewhere far away, and there are no normal places nearby for shooting Aurora.

As it often happens to me, I went at random, to see what and how, maybe something would work out.

But it turned out quite well!

It happens otherwise: you prepare in advance, think over the place, monitor the parameters, but in the end nothing happens, or the sky is completely covered with clouds.

This happens when an abnormally powerful magnetic storm is predicted, the consequences of which are visible even in Egypt in the form of auroras.

In spring, bright flashes occur most often during the equinox, even with not particularly strong parameters.

I believe that let this radiance be included in my collection of auroras at Priluki - after all, the flashes are always different, like all other conditions in the form of weather and season.

Aurora over the monastery has already been selected as the best image by 2GIS in 2025.

The main thing is not the monastery, but the flashes themselves!

Dang that looks so good and magical. What was the shutter speed to get shots like this? :o
