Night street life

I have been observing this paradox of desire for several years and there is nothing I can do about it. Probably, you just need to give in to your desires and satisfy them, and then it let you go.

In sunny weather, you want clouds and rain, but when it's rainy, you want sunshine and spots.

When everything is conducive to spots, you always want different weather conditions.

Winter is coming, where there will be many dark days, where there will be no spotty street during the day and there will be a thirst for bright bright days.

In summer, I want to take pictures of night street life.

That's because there are so many light pictures in summer, and darkness comes closer to autumn.

In late August and early September, you can already afford to go outside at night without a tripod and take pictures of people.

Unfortunately, in Vologda, all street life is concentrated in the city center.

If you go out for a walk in a residential area, then there are no people there at all.

For such plots, you need a bigger city.

And even the weather won't matter, since there are always a lot of people in big cities at any time of the day.

Street photography at night is almost indistinguishable from daytime photography.

A little more takes and a little more attention for focusing.

I used a speed 70-200/2.8 telephoto lens with stabilization, where shutter speeds of 1/30 second are quite realistic.

And yes, there is much less variety of subjects at night.

These will be young people walking, or adults returning from somewhere late.

But this is enough to show what nightlife looks like in a small regional center.

In winter, the "dark" street will be more interesting – it's already dark there during working hours, when life is still in full swing.

It's also difficult at night with spots and interesting chiaroscuro compositions, but something is possible.

...I would like to try a fixed speed 600+ mm telephoto lens, but it is prohibitively expensive...and there's nowhere to rent.
