Autumn night in Park Evkovka

More and more often, I shoot by hands at night – the equipment has begun to allow me to do this. I can't wait to be able to photograph street scenes at night without blurring, multiple takes for sharpness and high digital noises.

Just think about what modern cameras are capable of: these pictures were taken at ISO 8000-10000!

Of course, digital noise will be noticeable when you zoom in, but the quality is already decent for publishing on the web.

Now let's compare it. I got an old Canon 30d DSLR, which has a maximum ISO value of 3200...

And how would I photograph Evkovka Park with my own hands? The camera is 20 years old...

And now, in a modern professional mirrorless camera, I can program any button for any menu item.

I remember being so perplexed and at the same time fascinated by technology in 2020, when I bought myself a top-end smartphone and even did comparative tests in night shooting with a SLR camera.

I kept trying and trying to shoot with my hands in the dark, often I was forced to shoot immediately in jpeg.

Now it's more than available.

If I had photographed the night park in jpeg with the noise reduction turned on, then perhaps the pictures would have been even better.

Nowadays, cameras have such a dynamic range that it is very rarely necessary to pull something out of the shadows or dim the lights.

...Or maybe I learned how to shoot so that I didn't have to pull anything out...

I've been following the rule for a long time: if you get overexposure, then you just don't need to take such a shot.

And I'm comfortable with medium digital noise.

If the frame is exposed correctly, where there is no need to pull anything, then the noise will be almost invisible.

...I will come to Evkovka Park more than once!

I've been documenting this place for the past five years.

And I will continue to do it in different seasons.
