La música nos une: Venezuela y Cuba Festival del Caribe 2025/ Music unites us: Venezuela and Cuba Caribbean Festival 2025 [Esp-Eng]
Saludos apreciados lectores hoy doy vida y amor a mi blog para registrar una magistral y significativa experiencia musical que tuve en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba, una tierra cálida, sensible y hermosa como la nuestra.
Este viaje lo realizamos en el marco del XLIV Festival del Caribe - Fiesta del Fuego en la que nosotras @herenciamujertambor, tuvimos la dicha de recibir la invitación por el Ministerio de la Cultura de Cuba para asistir a un encuentro donde la herencia ancestral estuvo presente desde el primer momento.
A este evento de corte internacional fuimos en representación de nuestro país Venezuela, dedicado en el 2025 a la cultura popular de Curazao, en el que tuvimos una agenda bastante movida durante una semana, en distintas eventualidades y localidades en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba.
Desde mi sentir días previos al viaje tuve incertidumbre, ya que el deseo de viajar era colectivo y para que esto se lograra necesitábamos un financiamiento, por lo que tuvimos la suerte de recibir un apoyo de parte de distintas entidades del estado a quienes nuestra productora y director hicieron la solicitud, objetivo que al final se logró precisar para que todas las integrantes de la agrupación rápidamente alistáramos maletas y pudiéramos ir juntas a cumplir nuestra misión.
La llegada fue súper cálida ¡y que cálida! la temperatura en esta ciudad sobrepaso mi nivel de termómetro corporal, ciudad con un clima en el que poco a poco me fue acostumbrando al punto de tener que respirar cortito para mantenerme en equilibrio. Quien nos recibió fue una apacible y amable mujer "Enid Pujales" designada por el comité organizador para que fuera nuestra guía, aportando las condiciones necesarias para nuestro alojamiento y distribución dentro del perímetros donde estaríamos.
Nuestro alojamiento fue en Vista Alegre en una hermosa casa llamada "La Hiedra" espacio acogedor de habitaciones confortable y jardines de vegetación diversas.
Uno de los espacio más emblemáticos para los encuentros de esta semana fue en la CASA DEL CARIBE, lugar donde tuvimos nuestra 1era interacción cultural con la delegación de Curazao. A través de su muestra pude visibilizar similitud con nuestra cultura en cuanto a danza, vestuario y músicas presentadas, un ejemplo de esto lo percibí en una danza de salón en cuadrillas, muy parecida a nuestro Joropo oriental o la quichimba, y el calipso del callao de Ciudad Bolívar con respecto al traje de las madamas. Y es que esa identificación es posible y hasta innegable, debido a la cercanía de Venezuela con las Islas Antillanas de las cuales hemos tenido a lo largo de la historia un proceso de integración cultural importante que han dejado su impronta pasando de generación en generación.
Así mismo nos presentamos en el desfile de la serpiente durante una comparsa por las calles de la zona colonial de Santiago de Cuba "Las enramadas" donde nos dimos cita diversas agrupaciones realizando micro muestras de nuestra cultura dancística y musical.
El compartir de saberes con la delegación de Colombia estuvo de lujo. Ellos hicieron una representación del Carnaval de Barraquilla mostrando por la agrupación "Palma Africana" a cargo de la Cultora Carmen Meléndez quien presento una Conferencia magistral en defensa del Carnaval de Barraquilla declarado patrimonio de Colombia, gracia a su lucha identitaria para su preservación, misión que ella relata, logró tras muchas disputas.
La similitud de nuestras manifestaciones culturales para mi fue de gran impacto, mirarnos y sentirnos, África, caribe y cultura es realmente 💚 hermoso. Este encuentro fue aún más emotivo ya que después del cierre de la ponencia de Carmen Meléndez tuvimos la dicha de presentarnos a través de las palabras emocionadas de nuestra productora, para después expresarles a viva voz nuestro tema musical “Todas Somos Una” con autoría de Ivone Thompson, lo cual causó una grata impresión tocando corazones, despertando el sentimiento de fraternidad que nos invita a integrarnos sin ditinción fortaleciendo vínculos.
También tuvimos otro encuentro en la casa del Caribe con otra agrupación de tamboreras "Obini Irawo" oriundas de Santigo de Cuba, y que curiosamente su identidad como grupo musical en lenguaje afro significa mujer tambor, como el nuestro. De igual forma nos conectamos con un grupo de niñas y poetas bailarinas de la región de Matanza llamada "Por Amor a mi raiz", quienes con gusto estuvieron dispuestas a compartir con nosotras a través de lo que nos une " la música, danza y la poesía".
Con este caudal de talentosas mujeres presentamos en secuencia un tema cada agrupación, que expresaron nuestras propias afro-descendencia, integrándonos al final con: "Todas Somos una".
Otra significativa presentación fue la que realizamos en la facultad histórica de la universidad de ciencias médicas de Santiago de Cuba, en un acto solemne a un grupo de intelectuales, en el cual tuve la dicha de participar tocando el tambor con mis compañeras, dirigiendo una dinámica interactiva para todos los presentes a partir de nuestros ritmos afrovenezolanos, con los que jugamos y danzamos, reconociéndonos entre las risas, juegos, miradas y abrazos, siendo esto simplemente un lenguaje instintivo y universal de unidad, igualdad y fraternidad.
La cálida noche Santiaguera también recibió nuestro trabajo con cariño apreciando nuestro tambor afrovenezolano en dos lugares emblemáticos de la zona patrimonial, "La Claqueta" y en la plaza del "Parque Céspedes"
Por último y no menos importante estuvimos en otro desfile para el cierre del festival con la fiesta del fuego 🔥. En este día por la misma zona patrimonial se dieron cita diversas agrupaciones locales e internacionales para ofrecer su arte a los espectadores, los cuales estuvieron aglomerados en las calles con rostros que interprete, fueron de alegría, sorpresa y gratitud hasta el último momento.
El final de toda esa semana de diversión, tradición, cultura y misterio de la fiesta del fuego, culmina con un ritual donde se hacen la quema de un gran muñeco de tela que símbolo al diablo, y que según la leyenda al quemarlo se extiende la purificación para la llegada de buenos y nuevos acontecimientos para el pueblo. Para este evento no pudimos quedarnos en la quema ya que estábamos lejos de nuestras habitaciones y por seguridad debíamos retirarnos temprano de aquella zona.
Dentro de nuestra jornada tuvimos ciertos momentos libres para visitar algunos parajes turísticos cercanos a nuestra estadía. En mi caso después de haber visto tanta belleza artesanal y musical, se hizo preciso para mi obtener algunos instrumentos musicales que son referentes de la cultura africana e indígena a los que en algún momento mostraré en mi blog junto a otras anécdotas entretenidas, nutritivas y sensibles que tuve el placer de vivir en el mes de julio de 2025 en Santiago de Cuba.

Greetings dear readers, today I give life and love to my blog to record a masterful and meaningful musical experience I had in the city of Santiago de Cuba, a warm, sensitive and beautiful land like ours.
We made this trip within the framework of the XLIV Caribbean Festival - Fire Festival in which we @herenciamujertambor, were fortunate to receive the invitation by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba to attend a meeting where the ancestral heritage was present from the first moment.
We went to this international event on behalf of our country Venezuela, dedicated in 2025 to the popular culture of Curaçao, in which we had a busy agenda for a week, in different events and locations in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
From the days before the trip I felt uncertain, since the desire to travel was collective and for this to be achieved we needed funding, so we were fortunate to receive support from various state entities to whom our producer and director made the request, an objective that in the end was achieved so that all members of the group could quickly pack our bags and we could go together to fulfill our mission.
The arrival was super warm and how warm! the temperature in this city exceeded my body thermometer level, a city with a climate to which I was gradually getting used to the point of having to breathe short to keep me in balance. Who received us was a gentle and kind woman “Enid Pujales” designated by the organizing committee to be our guide, providing the necessary conditions for our accommodation and distribution within the perimeters where we would be.
Our lodging was in Vista Alegre in a beautiful house called “La Hiedra”, a cozy space with comfortable rooms and gardens of diverse vegetation.
One of the most emblematic spaces for this week's meetings was at the CASA DEL CARIBE, where we had our first cultural interaction with the delegation from Curaçao. Through its sample I could see similarities with our culture in terms of dance, costumes and music presented, an example of this I perceived in a ballroom dance in quadrilles, very similar to our oriental Joropo or quichimba, and the calypso of the callao of Ciudad Bolivar with respect to the costume of the madams. And that identification is possible and even undeniable, due to the proximity of Venezuela with the Antillean Islands of which we have had throughout history a process of cultural integration, important that have left their mark passing from generation to generation.
We also performed in the parade of the snake during a parade through the streets of the colonial area of Santiago de Cuba “Las Enramadas” where we met several groups performing micro samples of our dance and musical culture.
The sharing of knowledge with the Colombian delegation was luxurious. They made a representation of the Carnival of Barraquilla shown by the group “Palma Africana” in charge of the Cultora Carmen Meléndez who presented a master conference in defense of the Carnival of Barraquilla declared patrimony of Colombia, thanks to her identity struggle for its preservation, a mission that she relates, achieved after many disputes.
The similarity of our cultural manifestations for me was of great impact, to look at us and feel us, Africa, Caribbean and culture is really 💚 beautiful. This meeting was even more emotional because after the closing of the presentation of Carmen Meléndez we had the joy of introducing ourselves through the emotional words of our producer, and then expressing our theme song “Todas Somos Una” (We are all one) with the authorship of Ivone Thompson, which caused a pleasant impression touching hearts, awakening the feeling of fraternity that invites us to integrate without distinction, strengthening ties.
We also had another meeting in the house of the Caribbean with another group of drummers “Obini Irawo” from Santiago de Cuba, and curiously their identity as a musical group in Afro language means drum woman, like ours. We also connected with a group of girls and poets dancers from the region of Matanza called “Por Amor a mi Raiz”, who were willing to share with us through what unites us “music, dance and poetry”.With this wealth of talented women we presented in sequence a theme each group, which expressed our own Afro-descent, integrating us at the end with: “We are all one”.
Another significant presentation was the one we made in the historical faculty of the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba, in a solemn act to a group of intellectuals, in which I had the joy of participating playing the drum with my companions, leading an interactive dynamic for all those present based on our Afro-Venezuelan rhythms, with which we played and danced, recognizing each other among the laughter, games, looks and hugs, being this simply an instinctive and universal language of unity, equality and fraternity.
The warm Santiaguera night also received our work with affection appreciating our Afro-Venezuelan drum in two emblematic places of the patrimonial zone, “La Claqueta” and in the square of “Parque Céspedes”.
Last but not least we were in another parade for the closing of the festival with the fire party 🔥. On this day in the same heritage area, several local and international groups gathered to offer their art to the spectators, who were crowded in the streets with faces that I interpreted, were of joy, surprise and gratitude until the last moment.
The end of the week of fun, tradition, culture and secrets of the fire festival culminates with a ritual in which a large rag doll symbolizing the devil is burned and, according to legend, when it burns it spreads purification for the arrival of good and new events in the city. We were unable to attend this event because we were far from our rooms and had to leave the site early for security reasons.
During our day we had some free time to visit some tourist sites near our stay. In my case after having seen so much handcrafted and musical beauty, it became necessary for me to obtain some musical instruments that are referents of the African and indigenous culture which I will show in my blog at some point along with other entertaining, nourishing and sensitive anecdotes that I had the pleasure of living in the month of July 2025 in Santiago de Cuba.
