Wednesday Walk - REAL BODIES

REAL BODIES @EverNoticeThat httpshive.blog@evernoticethat.jpg

I have always wanted to see the REAL BODIES exhibition, and finally got my chance to go. This visual study of the human body fascinated me, and was the closest I've gotten to a departed human body since my sisters grandmother passed when I was a kid.

This exhibit consists of the real preserved human form shown in poses where they almost seem to come to life again. With expressive eyes and muscles caught in seemingly mid-motion for everyone to see.

The bodies themselves were donated by the Chinese Government from decadents who were left unclaimed and had no next of kin when they passed.

I was taken with how respectful the visitors were, even children kept their hands at their sides and appreciated the dignity of the moment.

There was a note of wonder at seeing a part of ourselves usually lain hidden from view, and now exposed. I took many more photos than are shown, but wanted to share a selection of them while leaving the rest for you to explore when REAL BODIES comes to your town.

I initially wondered if I should have made this nsfw, but carefully cropped any "naughty bits" out of the pictures, realizing that that didn't apply as this exhibit was not only educational, but also a work of art and a statement of life.

There were real people who lived active lives, and this exhibit reminds us of the temporary nature of our existence. As I walked along, I wondered about the hopes and dreams that these people had, and thanked them for reminding me to enjoy my time on this amazing planet.

Life truly is precious, and I hope you savor every vital moment as these individuals did in their Real Bodies.

As I've said, this is just a little peek at this inspiring and educational work. There's even a controversial section that's walled off with a warning sign attached that you'll have to see for yourself. But this tastefully done exhibit is worth the trip to see the intersection of art and life at a moment in time.

It is good to my heart to hear everyone was showing respect while taking in the exhibit. You are correct, life is here one moment and gone the next and we should cherish every moment with our loved ones and friends.

Indeed. I was concerned at first when I heard the screaming, laughing kids with their families behind me as I entered. But once inside, a solemn attitude developed and they began asking questions of their parents about the exhibit.

And, none of them touched anything...

I've been lucky in that save for my beloved grandmother who was attacked by an illegal immigrant she was feeding (and my sisters grandmother), I haven't lost a member of my family. Life is precious and I try to do as much good as I can every single day. :)

Thank you. The exhibit looks so much better in person, and it made me reflect on life as never before.

I apologize that I don't have a better camera. These were taken with my moto G Power phone that I got in 2019 (I think), and I had to work to process them so they would look somewhat acceptable. Someday I'll upgrade to the latest iPhone Pro Max as it has the best camera and video, but for now I'll make use with what I have.

I can only imagine how the real scenario plays out as you've so said cus this looks so good and the angles you've taken the pictures from are so right.

Through your lens I was able to discover ‘the real bodies exhibition’ existence and that counts as a big plus thanks to your phone and the person behind it.

It goes to show how extra awesome your dream phones pictures will be.

Please where is this located?

These photos were taken last year when the exhibit toured the United States. I was unable to locate a current schedule at the company website, but assume they will tour again at some point. If you get a chance, go see it.

I've actually been a member since last year, but due to caring for an elderly relative, have had few times to walk and post about it. I'll certainly get around to checking out some other walks, as right now I'm in the middle of blogging for the other platform outside of Hive that I also write for. Thanks! :)
