La encantadora ciudad de Sopot en Polonia [ESP/ENG]
Hello everyone! To conclude our posts about our visit to the Polish Sea or Baltic Sea, I want to show you a city that I loved, although I would also say that it was my favorite city on this entire trip. It is the beautiful city of Sopot, a charming place that has so many incredible things to see that it is definitely worth visiting, and I recommend it. We only spent a couple of hours there and were left wanting more, so we hope to return in the future or perhaps next year, but for now I want to show you some of the interesting and charming places we saw there.
First, I want to start by saying that there were a lot of people there, and it was a bit difficult to park, although not impossible, but also expensive. We paid 60 zlotys, or almost $17, which I think was valid for the whole day, but we were only going to be there for a couple of hours because we had a long drive back home to Sosnowiec. Even so, we had to pay the 60 zlotys. Once we parked, we went to the center of Sopot because we wanted to find a place to eat, and on the way we saw a beautiful, green, and clean park where there were many people sitting and enjoying the coolness provided by the trees, others walking, riding bicycles, or children playing in the park.
Of course, we saw the beach too, but we left it until last because we wanted to explore the city center first and the famous street called Bohaterów Monte Cassino, also known as Monciak Street. I remember that the weather was nice that day, and the first building that caught my eye was the Sofitel Grand Hotel because of its beautiful architecture. Then we arrived at Monciak, the heart of Sopot and the part I loved most there because it is a place full of life, with attractions for children, vendors, shops, many restaurants, and places to have a drink. There was also another building with spectacular architecture, the Spa House or Dom Zdrojowy, with a beautiful fountain in front.
Oh, and on Monciak Street, one place they recommend visiting is the Crooked House, although to be honest, it looks a little different than it does on the internet, as there are some large trees on either side that block the view. Even so, I took a photo of it, which I'll share with you below. In the end, we had a delicious pizza at a restaurant or pizzeria called Prosto, which I already showed you in a previous post and which I recommend if you go to Sopot. After that, we continued walking along Monciak Street, as it is undoubtedly a very charming place, and if it looked beautiful during the day, I imagine that at night it must look spectacular and more lively. So, in the future, I hope to return there at night to have a drink at one of the many restaurants or places there to do so.
Another interesting thing we saw there was the statue of Wojtek the Bear, the soldier bear who accompanied Polish troops and who everyone who passes by takes a photo of. We also saw a beautiful church and the Balneological House, but what you can't miss is the very famous Sopot pier, the longest wooden pier in Europe called MOLO. I think the entrance fee was only 10 zloty, or almost $3 per person, but unfortunately we didn't go there because Olivia was tired and we wanted to visit the beach for a while before returning, but we'll definitely visit it when we return to Sopot. The beach is spectacular, with golden sand and slightly cold water, ha ha ha, but that didn't stop Olivia from enjoying a delicious swim. There are parks, places to have a drink, and lots of sun loungers. Sopot is undoubtedly a charming city on the Polish coast, and we loved it because there are many interesting things and places to see and discover. So, if you go to the Polish coast, I recommend visiting Sopot because I'm sure you'll love it as much as we did.
