El viernes pasado decidí hacer unas compras, necesitaba vegetales, queso y entre mis planes estaba adquirir el surimi para seguir practicando los rolls tipo sushi. Ya había ido a varios supermercados en mi ciudad, Puerto La Cruz, cuatro locales para ser exacta, sin poder lograr encontrar esta proteína hecha de pescado.

Hice mis compras pero sin lograr ubicar el surimi en ningún supermercado de mi ciudad, así que decidí traslardarme hasta la ciudad de Lechería que queda a unos doce minutos de Puerto La Cruz. Es usual que la gente se confunda y piense que Puerto La Cruz, Lechería y Barcelona son la misma ciudad, todo esto por lo cercana de sus ubicaciones, pero nada dista más de la realidad, tenemos alcaldías diferentes, ya con eso basta para saber en qué ciudad vives.

Llegué a Lechería y allí sí pude ubicar el surimi ¡Así que podré practicar nuevamente el arte de hacer los rolls! No quisiera llamarle sushi como tal, porque no voy a usar pescado crudo en su preparación. De igual forma hay que destacar que el sushi ha sido bastante americanizado, lo podemos notar en el sushi roll California, cuya proteína animal no está cruda como se estila en Japón, sino que se trata del surimi.

Les comento que el viernes 8 de septiembre fue un día feriado en Lechería por celebrarse la festividad de la Virgen del Valle, el pueblo venezolano es bastante devoto y ese día se puede notar todo un movimiento de creyentes en torno a la virgen , incluso la llevan al mar a pasear en los botes de pescadores, vestida de gala. Aquí les comparto una foto de un imponente monumento a la virgen donde luce su traje xomo cada año, además podrán notar la cantidad de bellas flores que adornaban el lugar.

Aproveché para pasar por el boulevard de Playa Lido y disfrutar de la vista marina, habían varias personas disfrutando de la playa y otras se encontraban en el momumento de la Virgen, tomarme ese espacio para disfrutar del ambiente marino y capturar unas fotos fue algo relajante.

Volví a casa con los ojos llenos de mar y con mi ingrediente estrella en mano, fijensé que del surimi a la playa solo hay un paso en mi bela costa oriental.

I arrived in Lechería and there I was able to locate the surimi, so I will be able to practice again the art of making the rolls! I do not want to call it sushi as such, because I will not use raw fish in its preparation. It should also be noted that the sushi has been quite Americanized, we can notice it in the California sushi roll, whose animal protein is not raw as in Japan, but it is surimi.

Friday (Sep, 8th) was a holiday in Lechería to celebrate the feast of the Virgen del Valle, Venezuelan people are quite devout and that day you can notice a whole movement of believers around the virgin, even take her to the sea to ride on fishing boats, dressed in costume. Here I share with you a photo of an imposing monument to the virgin where she wears her costume as she does every year, you can also notice the amount of beautiful flowers that adorned the place.

I took the opportunity to pass by the boulevard of Playa Lido and enjoy the marine view, there were several people enjoying the beach and others were at the monument of the Virgin, taking that space to enjoy the marine environment and capture some photos was relaxing.

I returned home with my eyes full of sea and with my star ingredient in hand, notice that from surimi to the beach there is only one step in my beautiful east coast.
