Hello everyone. I love observing nature and documenting it through photography. I try to capture the moment every time something catches my attention, either with a camera or a cell phone. In this blog I share some photos of the different species I found in Cojímar, San Miguel del Padrón and Guanabacoa (municipalities of Havana, Cuba).
Hola a todos. Me encanta observar la naturaleza y documentarla a través de la fotografía. Intento capturar el momento cada vez que algo me llama la atención, ya sea con una cámara o con un teléfono móvil. En este blog comparto algunas fotos de las distintas especies que encontré en Cojímar, San Miguel del Padrón y Guanabacoa (municipios de La Habana, Cuba).
Herons, by themselves, look very elegant and, in general, the photos in which they appear give me the feeling that there is a romantic atmosphere. I found this beauty in Cojímar. They are known for their long necks and white plumage, although in Guanabacoa it is common to see blue-plumaged herons in the Roble.
Las garzas, por sí mismas, lucen muy elegantes y, por lo general, las fotos en las que aparecen me dan la sensación de que hay un ambiente romántico. Esta preciosura la encontré en Cojímar. Son conocidas por su cuello largo y plumaje blanco, aunque en Guanabacoa es común ver por el Roble garzas de plumaje azul.
I was also able to capture a house sparrow in the garden of a house; they are rather complicated birds, I would say, except in Cojímar, where they even approached me where I was sitting in the park, a curious thing, because generally birds do not get very close to people, and even less so sparrows.
También pude capturar un gorrión común en el jardín de una casa; son aves un tanto complicadas, diría yo, excepto en Cojímar, donde incluso se me acercaron a donde me encontraba sentada en el parque, cosa curiosa, porque generalmente las aves no se acercan mucho a las personas y menos todavía los gorriones.
I was also able to capture a baby totí in San Miguel del Padrón that could not fly to its nest in a tree. I tried to catch it and take it with me, but then I remembered that a friend of mine did the same thing once with a bird of a different species than this one, which hurt its wings and could not fly, and died in captivity a few days later because of a worm in its neck that no one saw. So I preferred to let the bird go free. Besides, its mother was in the tree watching to make sure nothing happened to it.
También pude capturar una cría de totí en San Miguel del Padrón que no podía volar hacia su nido en un árbol. Intenté cogerla y llevármela, pero luego recordé que un amigo mío hizo lo mismo una vez con una ave de una especie diferente a esta, que se lastimó las alas y no podía volar, y murió en cautiverio unos días después por un gusano en el cuello que nadie vio. Así que preferí dejar al ave en libertad. Además, su mamá estaba en el árbol vigilando que no le pasara nada.
I was also able to capture two funny turtles in full reproduction and a peacock named Pocholo, very beloved species in Guanabacoa. Pocholo is always wanted to be touched because of his striking plumage and although you may think he has a calm character, he is not, he is jealous and hysterical and when he sees many people around him he starts to scream outrageously.
También pude capturar dos tortugas graciosas en plena reproducción y un pavo real llamado Pocholo, especies muy queridas en Guanabacoa. A Pocholo siempre lo quieren tocar por su llamativo plumaje y aunque pienses que tiene un carácter tranquilo, no es así, es celoso e histérico y cuando ve muchas personas a su alrededor comienza a gritar escandalosamente.
I also love to pay attention to pets, like a bored dog in Santa Fe, Guanabacoa, who didn't even flinch in my presence or that of the camera, as any other dog would.
Además, me encanta prestar atención a los animales domésticos, como un perro aburrido de Santa Fe, en Guanabacoa, que ni se inmutó ante mi presencia o la de la cámara, como haría cualquier otro perro.
On the other hand, a dangerous Dalmatian named Mía who lives in Cojímar was watching my every move as soon as she saw me. A dog trained to bite intruders who try to enter her owners' home without permission.
Por otro lado, una dálmata peligrosa llamada Mía que vive en Cojímar estaba atenta a cada uno de mis movimientos desde que me vio. Una perra entrenada para morder a los intrusos que intenten entrar sin permiso en la casa de sus dueños.
Observing the animal world is entertaining, as they inspire respect and curiosity. In addition, we cannot forget our immortal connection with nature, so we must always keep in mind its care and conservation.
Observar el mundo animal es entretenido, ya que ellos inspiran respeto y curiosidad. Además, no podemos olvidar nuestra conexión inmortal con la naturaleza, por lo que siempre debemos tener presente su cuidado y conservación.
