Al llegar al reparto Miramar, en el municipio Playa, después de salir del túnel de Línea en la misma esquina de la 5ta Avenida, te sorprende una maravillosa arquitectura colonial. Lo primero que se nota son sus tejas verdes, de ahí su nombre: Casa de las Tejas Verdes.

Upon arriving at the Miramar neighborhood, in the municipality of Playa, just after exiting the Línea tunnel on the same corner as 5th Avenue, you are greeted by a magnificent colonial architecture. The first thing you notice are its green tiles, hence its name: House of the Green Tiles.

Mientras estás sentada(o) en el portal, sientes tanta tranquilidad y armonía. Se pueden escuchar los cantos de las aves y observar los autos pasar a toda velocidad por la autopista.

While you are sitting on the porch, you feel a deep sense of peace and harmony. You can hear the birds singing and watch cars speeding by on the highway.

En el interior de la casa hay una variada colección de objetos y muebles antiguos que pertenecieron a su última dueña. Tras morir sin dejar ningún heredero, la propiedad pasó a ser legalmente del Estado cubano.

Inside the house, there is a diverse collection of antique objects and furniture that belonged to its last owner. After she passed away without leaving any heirs, the property legally became owned by the Cuban State.

Las cosas que indudablemente más me llamaron la atención fueron la portentosa lámpara colonial de cristal que emite luz cálida, el piano de cola, ambos objetos de la sala principal, y el jardín.

The things that undoubtedly caught my attention the most were the impressive colonial crystal chandelier emitting warm light, the grand piano—both located in the main living room—and the garden.

El jardín bordea toda la casa y cuenta con árboles frondosos y arbustos. En la parte trasera se pueden ver dos piscinas vacías y varios bancos para sentarse.

The garden surrounds the entire house and features lush trees and shrubs. At the back, there are two empty swimming pools and several benches for sitting.

La casa alberga una gran historia. Desde 1925 se encuentra construida en este lugar y ha pasado por varios estados de deterioro y posteriores reconstrucciones a lo largo de los años. Actualmente es un centro que promueve la arquitectura pasada, contemporánea y del futuro, así como también el arte cubano e internacional en sus diversas manifestaciones.

The house holds a rich history. Built in this place since 1925, it has gone through various states of deterioration and subsequent restorations over the years. Currently, it serves as a center that promotes past, contemporary, and future architecture, as well as Cuban and international art in its diverse forms.

Muchas personas desconocen la existencia de esta casa y, por tanto, su importancia e historia para el reparto de Miramar. No obstante, las mujeres que dirigen el lugar están dispuestas a responder a las inquietudes del público, siempre y cuando se haga previa reservación.

Many people are unaware of the existence of this house and, therefore, its importance and history for the Miramar neighborhood. However, the women who manage the place are willing to answer visitors’ questions, provided a reservation is made in advance.
