Beijing The Cuban Way// Beijing A La Cubana (ENG-ESP)

Hello everyone! The days I spent in Beijing were not boring at all. As you can see in the photos, everywhere you go there are bicycles and electric scooters for the general public that you pay for through WeChat. I also saw some really old bikes on a few street corners, though I’m not sure if they were pay-to-ride or free. So that’s the first thing: you can easily get around using these private, city-licensed modes of transport.

​It's also fun to wander through the supermarkets and see how almost everything is quite cheap. Since a huge portion of Chinese people do all their shopping online, seeing a group of foreigners inside a physical store was a real eye-catcher for them. Most of the time, it was just us and the online delivery drivers.

​One of the places we loved going to—where we ran into other Cubans, whether they were athletes or other professionals—was Ritan, where you could find a bit of everything at prices way below the rest of the capital. Well, at Ritan, all the local vendors already knew we were Cuban 😁.

​It's impossible to get bored in Beijing because it's a city packed with things to do and endless places to explore.

Hola a todos. Los días que pasé en Pekín no fueron nada aburridos. Como puedes ver en las fotos en todas partes hay bicicletas y motos eléctricas para el público en general, que pagas por medio de WeChat. También vi bicicletas muy viejas en algunas esquinas que no sé si eran de pago o gratis. Así que eso es lo primero, se puede andar de aquí para allá en estos medios de transporte privados con licencias urbanas.

También uno se distrae yendo a los supermercados y viendo cómo casi todo es bastante barato. Una gran parte de los chinos solo hacen las compras online, así que ver a un grupo de extranjeros dentro de un mercado para ellos era algo muy llamativo. Éramos nosotros y los repartidores de pedidos online, la mayor parte de las veces.

Uno de los lugares al que nos encantaba ir y donde nos encontramos con otros cubanos, ya fueran deportistas u otro tipo de profesionales, era el Ritan, donde había de todo a precios muy por debajo del resto de la capital. Bueno, en el Ritan ya todos los chinos vendedores sabían que éramos cubanos 😁.

Es imposible aburrirse en Pekín, porque es una ciudad de muchas actividades y también porque hay muchos lugares para explorar.
