Hace tres años me acogí al retiro laboral. Después de 42 años de trabajo y 60 años cumplidos, mi cuerpo necesitaba descansar y adaptarse a esta nueva etapa de mi vida, pues, como dice mi esposo, “La jubilación también se disfruta”.

Pero, en sus inicios fue difícil adaptarse a tanta tranquilidad porque mi vida laboral fue agitada. Entre estudiantes, profesores, compañeros de trabajo, padres y demás personas transcurrió gran parte de mi vida.

Ahora, de momento, una casa, mi esposo y yo.

¿Qué hacer para no vivir deprimida?

¿Cómo aprovechar el tiempo libre?

Por más que pensaba, no se me ocurría nada.

Entonces, mi esposo me habló de @hive y, debo decir que me ha ayudado mucho porque me ha obligado a estudiar, prepararme en temas que no sabía que existían y aprender aspectos básicos de computación.

Debo decir que he conocido a muchas personas y, a pesar de mis problemas de salud, he podido participar del ecosistema y he interactuado con muchas personas.

Pero necesitaba del contacto humano, de algo que ocupara mi tiempo ayudando a las personas, siendo de utilidad.

Y, apareció una amiga que conocí que también está jubilada.

Ambas somos graduadas de la misma carrera de licenciatura en Español-Literatura, tenemos más o menos la misma edad, ambas jubiladas y con las mismas inquietudes.

Y, sin pensarlo, nos decidimos a abrir nuestro propio emprendimiento y vendemos ropas y otros artículos en una venta de garaje que funciona viernes, sábado y domingo.

Nos ha ido muy bien, desde el punto de vista sentimental, nos ha traído bienestar y nos ha permitido hacer nuevas amistades.

Los vecinos dicen que vendemos muy barato. Pero, el objetivo no es hacernos ricas ni explotar a nadie.

Ganamos nuestro dinero para ayudar a nuestros pagos como retiradas, nos entretenemos, somos de ayuda y encontramos la manera de ser felices.

We both graduated from the same bachelor's degree in Spanish-Literature, we're about the same age, both retired, and have the same interests.

And, without thinking twice, we decided to open our own business and sell clothes and other items at a garage sale that runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

It's gone very well for us, from a sentimental perspective; it's brought us well-being and allowed us to make new friends.

Neighbors say we sell very cheaply. But the goal isn't to get rich or exploit anyone.

We earn our money to help with our payments and withdrawals, we entertain ourselves, we are helpful, and we find ways to be happy.
